Simon close but no cigar

There will always be a way it just has not appeared at this time

Brainstorm the possibilities?

Soppy idea no 1

A retiring cash rich pro who wishes to get into management (Tony Adams a good Essex lad) not only would he have cash but the profile to make things happen locally

Soppy? maybe but try brainstorming with a few bright commited BTFC fans, whatever you do don!t waste time on my idea build a parcel of new lateral thinking ideas

How about looking at Dagenham & Redbridge, seven years ago they were down and nearly out, they occupy an area of land which I doubt is more than four acres and yet have been probably one of the most successful football clubs in Essex, why, there is no sugar daddy putting in the money, it is simply good management at club and team level, the social side is booming with good bar takings and social functions to raise money, good cup runs has raised good money for future development, grants have been obtained for new stands etc, why cant this be done at New Lodge ? How much have Chelmsford been contributing each season ? thats soon to go, where will those lost funds be replaced from ? Its about time you started asking questions obout " life after Basildon"

At last what I HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR ALL ALONG,

PEOPLE STARTING ASKING THE QUESTIONS.

I have been attacked and insulted for telling what I know to be the truth. It is not the move which I put my hands up and admit I totaly oppose. It is not that I genuinly believe that as I said months ago, BTFC are potentially throwing themselves to the wolves. It all goes back to the main principle of business YOU MUST HAVE A CONTINGENCY. The club management deny there is one. If that is the case then there are serious business based arguments against proceeding.

These I have been assured have not been explored.

Ask the following questions get suitable answers and I will change my spots and buy a season ticket at the new stadium.

1. What is the contingency.

2. Have you approached Forest Glade with a view to a joint initiative in Billericay (they have lottery money)

3. How will the long term (10 year +) maintenence etc be funded in the event that the gates remain static at presnt capacity.

4. What will be the impact on this site and the town centre should (a) The Cliff crossing become a reality (traffic etc) (B) The local hotels are not fully utilised and the hotel is forced to operate in defeciet over a long period of time.

5. If for some reason the whole project that is not football related becomes a business failure will the developers still allow the site to be used as a football stadium and just knock down the hotel.

6. Will you carry out a FULL local consultation prior to submitting final plans.

7. Will you garuntee that all of the facilities are accesible to the community who currently use them at the same financial rate as they are now (allowing for inflation only).

9. Should after 2-3 years BTFC get promoted to the football league and require parking for the full capacity where will all the cars park.

10. BDC have recently implemented environmental and safety restrictions on all surrounding roads how will the increase in cars effect this.

If you can answer these questions please reply other wise please do not continue to call me a prick. At least I have thought beyond my nose which is not being pulled by Mr Moore.

3 Points on Dagenham.

1) Didn't have to worry about the ground - was already suitable from their previous spell in the conf.

2) Had the facilities to make non football money through the social club

3) Made an inspired signing in Garry Hill - probably the best manager in local non-league.

They key is 1) above. No matter how much money we find be it a rich backer, winning the FA cup, me winning the lottery (yet to win the 50/50) we cannot get a conference grading at New Lodge. We can improve the facilities at New Lodge, change the footballing side of things around etc, but unless the Conference change their requirements, New Lodge will never see conference football. It's not the site itself, it's the access down Blunt's Wall road that is the problem.Of course the other thing with Dagenham is that they found success through a merger. To my mind would be much worse than a move to Basildon.

Will have a go at some of mObriens Qs:

1) We stay at New Lodge. We have a recently signed 35 year lease on the site so will not be homeless.

2) No point. They won't be able to provide a conference graded ground. Very much doubt they'll be able to offer an improvement on New Lodge.

3) The business side of the development will be self funding. All moneys received through the gate will go to the football club direct.

So far as the business side of things is concerned, Stadia have a wide experience of running these businesses they're hardly going to invest £14m in a risky business are they?

6) Well you've got the public enquiry to look forward to. Perhaps then might be a good idea to make your allegations of corruption etc!

7) Will be through an agreement with the council at planning stage.

8) ?

9,10) Were dealt with at the planning meeting (thought you were there?) - the club will be legally obliged to encourage alternative means of travel - public transport etc.

Sorry mate didnot answer the questions.

encourage use of public transport, people will drive.

There will not be enough money through the gate to maintain an 8,000 seater stadia, the electric alone will increase by a factor of three, cant pay existing bills.

The fact that stadia is experienced means nowt what happens when the hotel is 10 = years ol;d and looking shabby and needs major refurb or demolition where will that leave BTFC.

Good atempt no goldfish

1. Over the last few years Dagenham have improved their ground from a Conference to now be a Football League Ground.

2. Didnt your club used to be called " Billericay Town Football Sports and Social Club " what happened to the "Social" ?

3. When Gary Calder was signed on a five year contract he was described as " the best manager in non-league football " do you still see this as a true statement ?

I think Simon has adequately answered your questions. In fact why don't you come down to the club and ask our chairman for yourself? The people who use this forum are mere supporters (as far as I know, no club official has ever posted on this board), and therefore cannot give authorative answers. Reading your postings, I feel like a contestant on bloody mastermind! Maybe you can answer this question: why would an experienced company like Stadia Management be prepared to invest millions of £'s in our club when it is so obviously doomed to failure and in 10 years time might be half derelict and in need of pulling down/major refurbishing, can't pay the 'leccy bill and the only supporters that BTFC have is the occasional dog walker letting his mut crap all over the pitch? I think these people might just have a business plan somewhere up thier sleeve!

The question about Gary Calder is somewhat irrelevant!

Daggers are a community club

Located in the heart of the community all sorts of weddings anniversary! etc hire out the facilities

As far as I can remember two major bars and a very sizable function room

They also make a point of reaching out in to the community

Match days they get a similar number of cars arriving as do clubs with much smaller gates, the rest of the support walk in

I agree with Ryan C. The amount of money Stadia Management are going to invest shows they think it is a worthwhile investment. I'm not sure which Scottish club they have worked with I think it was Livingston and if it was they have been really successful with them as it has helped Livingston rise a couple of leagues to the Scottish Premier division.

I don't see why if the stadium gets approved it can't be a success, but it would be nice to be told more about what's going on by people such as Rod Moore etc.

Let us just have a complete turnaround here....I wonder what sort of attitude from MOBRIEN would be if it was Stadia Mgmt saying they wanted to invest in Basildon United F.C. and they would finance a stadium in Billericay.......(Not likely to happen cos Basildon Council have sold off all attainable sights in the past for expensive new housing) - And before you shout...We (residents) never asked that to happen....And the local residents around B.T.F.C. do not complain when there is a game (every weekend) with Chelmsford also.

Next point....For example - How many ie West Ham supporters who attend games at West Ham actually live within 1 mile of Upton Park???

Next Point....Believe it or not there are Billericay fans that travel in from Wickford/Basildon to watch non league footie at a reasonably high standard (same as ie West Ham/Arsenal/Spurs) fans travel from these same towns to follow their "chosen" choice..............So this surely proves "you do not have to live in a certain town/city to support any particular team....

Overall, I am fed up with this "us against them" scenario cos I think that is what MOBRIEN deep down is trying to say !!!

Over n Out.

Firstly please note not all anons are me.

I do not believe in them and us, but I can understand where it comes from. originating outside Essex one of the first things I noticed as my son plays football in Billericay and I live in basildon, is that them and us attitude is probably more a Bas than ricay thing!

I am not assuming that things will go bad for BTFC and they will not have the money for bills, but everything depreciates and while Stadia are investing now, my questions are post their involvement. They are not interested in us they are abusiness and must answer to share holders and if things go wrong they will be obliged to put shareholders first which is the correct way to run a business.

I have put my questions to Mr Moore and he has not answered a single one to any reasonable level.

I would bugger off and shut up if he did.

Mr Moore has said he has consulted (nope) let him meet say 1/2 Doz locals and speak to them then.

The reason I put my voice here is because it is a fans forum and as I understand it is for BTFC supporters to exchange views and ideas and fair criticism about the club.

I honestly believe that the club is in serious danger and we have a right (no a duty) as residents/fans to be told the truth.

The danger is from more than one front,

the resources and expectations being aimed at this venture and associated fall out from this especially if it is unsuccesfull in two years time which is the time I have said it will take which Mr Moore said it wouldnt We are 10 months into that time and no movement.

Secondly if we do climb all the hurdles and get the thing built will it then be managed properly, (look at the state of existing).

I am hoping some of you will either add your voices to mine an ask the questions of Mr Moore and see if you can get a straight honest answer, even if like a number of people you relish the idea, at least ask the questions

Finally

Hand on Heart it would be great to be able to walk across the park on a nice evening pie in hand son at side and settle for a nice midweekgame of footie instead of watching more dross on TV, but we as fans have a duty to past and future supporters to ensure we do not trust people who have not thought it through properly. In answer to Stadias experiences you would have thought the whole british government could have run a dome especially as they had a "business plan"

GOOD JOB THOUGH WE HAVE THE BACKING OF THE FA IN DEVELOPING THIS STADIUM WE CAN BE AS COMFORTED AS THOSE INVOLVED IN WEMBLEY..
