I heard that both Chelea and Charlton complimented our GRoundsman on the quality of thepitch - both sides certainly demonstrated how you could play neat football on the ground, with Chelsea always looking the more likely winners, eventually scoring a 90th minute free kick winner which somehow appeared to squeeze through a crowd of players.

Theres a reason for the higher attendance Mikefleet. Well several.

1) Free entry for season ticketholders of both Charlton and fleet. I certainly wouldnt have gone if this was not the case.

2) Pretty cheap to take kids in compared to a normal Chelsea/Charlton game despite there only being a handful of premiership expeireinced players on display.

3) A 7pm kick of actually encourages famalies as the litle ones will be home and in bed for 10.

Just out of curiosity, how many cameramen, commentators, producers, etc. did Chelsea TV manage to get up in the gantry last night ?

...or did they build an extra scaffolding for the live broadcast ?

I have a feeling I might have to do a bit of clearing up in there before I film tonight's match !? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Just wondering what Sky would do if they covered a Home game.

The last live game (Notts County ?) was before the gantry was built.

They had a few milling about. They used the proper gantry that you used, "Glen's nest". They also had two commentators working on the game, Chelsea legend Kerry Dixon was one of them.

Chelsea's version of Chas Webster, Neil Burnett, was the one doing all the interviews. He was the guy with black hair bald patch about mid forties in this season Chelsea shirt. He doesn't normally wear that to games but he had been to the funeral of Chelsea statistician, Ron Hockins, earlier in the day.

In his interview with Arnesen he commented on the fantastic crowd, Arnesen said it was good to see so many people coming out as it gives the players a boost. Chelsea play at Aldershot's rec and normally get about 10 people turn up.

Chelsea's number 9, Ben Sahar, is one for the future apparently and some Chelsea fans are saying he should be given a place on the first team bench ahead of Saloman Kalou. I was personnally impressed with the running of Micheal Woods, the ginger one who seemed to be nicknamed Bradley Branning from Eastenders.

So there you go there might not be a lot of names you recognise but one day 1743 people will be able to say that they saw Ben Sahar's first start in Chelsea's reserves.

When he makes his debut for QPR or Brentford then. Considering all the pound chasers Chelsea have at their disposal, home grown players won't get a look in at Plastic FC. Can't say he particularly impressed last night anyway

Nice to see theres always someone to put a dempner on things. I didn't say he'd ever play for Chelsea. Why did you pick two teams that happend to be based near Chelsea, how many of their cast offs end up at QPR or Brentford, and why did you leave out Fulham?

I'm just trying to make the sound of going to reserve games more appealing to people, are you basing what you think about a player on the only performance you've seen of him?

He's 17 years old and an under 17 Isreali international, Charltons team was very experienced with the likes of Matt Holland, 40 caps for Ireland and Kevin Lisbie who once scored against Chelsea at the bridge in the ninetienth minute to seal a 1-0 victory. I thought Sahar had a good game but the experience of Charlton's defence go the better of him. Don't let me get in the way of all the negativity though. Now then wheres that White Van Nistleroy.

I'm not being negative about the Fleet at all. I think it's great that we are getting additional income into the club, and having the chance to watch international players play at the San Stonebridge. As this is a Fleet board I apologise for commenting more on the glory hunters from West London and will cease forthwith!
