Players and coach show all how it's done!

Well, today came and went with over 300 people, young and old, having a go at scoring three times from five attempts to win a football at the Town Show.

 

The first shift started at 8.30am and finished at 6.00pm.(there was no second shift!)

 

The usual crowd set up the stall and everything was ready by 10.30am when the crowds rolled in.

 

A steady stream of interested youngsters tried their hand at the game and at least 6 people went off with a football as their prize. Everyone who did take part received a goodie bag and we hope to see some of them at the games in the future.

 

What were the good points?

Dedicated group selling the good name of the club.

Having some of our players and coaching staff give up their time to be there.

Free drinks and cakes supplied by SL.

Set up of stall expertly marshalled by our safety officer.

Seeing the local MP and Mayor having a go at the game. It was heard that when the Mayor missed his five attempts, 'that he was having a mare'! Nice one Eric!

Watching 300 people of all ages taking part.

Admiring the way two of our seasoned players came second best to a nine year old!!!!

Just being there when our coach blamed the lack of grass, small balls and holes not big enough in the targets as to reasons why he could not win!!!

Wondering why Dib Dob Dave had his track suit on all day in the blistering heat.

 

And last but not least. Watching Smithy being nutmegged by Lynne!

 

Thanks to all who were at the Town Show. Here's looking forward to next year's. Discussions have already taken place as to how we better this one.

Well done to everyone at the Show. When I arrived there was a big queue for the shooting competition. I had a go but I'd left my shooting boots at home!

 

Enfield FC also had a stall. It consisted of a bucket collection for the E's 'Back to the Borough' campaign. I tried to chat to them but they didn't seem very keen to talk (maybe they didn't like my Towners shirt!)

 

It was great to see Lee Smith and Bryan Hammett at the show too. Well done to everyone involved. Jolly good show!
