plea to our league officials......

Recommended Posts

dear league chairman please, please, don't allow poor referees and assistant referees to referee in our ESL league.today away at barkingside i witnessed what i would called the worst performance ever in my 42 years of life from a man and two assistants in a black shirt.there were 6 yellow cards and a sending off late in the game for the home side and 3 yellow cards for the visitors in a decent game between two good football sides.now i pride myself in never being sent off either as a player or a coach and our disciplinary record after 8 games played is second to none(we had more bookings today than the rest of the 7 games played before).my fear is that, one day, someone will get so frustrated with this referee and will end up doing something regrettable.we are the nice guys and will take that on the chin.i know what you are gonna think now...it's all sour grapes,he's always making excuses and so on.nope, the reality is,you send someone to referee our game today that he wasn't able enough to cope with it.i'm sure bboy will have something interesting to say about it and that is from the winning side... i won't mention that we missed 20 goal chances, were denied a blatant penalty with the score 0-0 saying that our toughest and honest midfielder took a dive (why you didn't book him then? dominated the game for 65 minutes before they scored against the run of play.i want forget about that...but sure you can do it something about the referee's performance and make sure that next week he's back refereeing the u'10s mini-soccer league, where i feel he'll be a lot safer for him! otherwise one day something bad will happen! the ball is in your court, acting now will be a wise thing to do for everybodys interest in the esl

I agree. The officials this year have been the worse I have ever seen the ESL. But today they were excellent. We had Lee Dorling (?) and I have always thought he was a good ref. Lets the game flow, doesn't brandish cards willy nilly and talks to the players. We also had a linesman who we had at Brentwood and he was shocking that day. But today he was exellent. But the most refreshing thing was that when I spoke to him after he even admitted he had a bad game against Brentwood. Against Concord we had three terrible officials. There is a young ref called Elliot who is going to Uni at Leeds so we have lost him and he was excellent.

Coachey who was the ref?

I suggest a constructive report submitted with your club's suitably low mark will achieve much more within the echelons of the ESL than a rant on here. I can understand your frustration, and I know the League Chairman reads this, but a well worded report from Beryl will carry a lot more weight.

By the way, if the FA introduce a sixth division at step 4 next season, that will be an extra 11 games a week at that level. That means promoting an extra 11 referees taken from the best of those currently at step 5. Therefore, the quality of referees at ESL level is likely to get worse, not better, as they will need to turn to the Olymian League and Business Houses League to find referees to fill the gaps.

wait for the barkingside referee report....ours is gonna be nice...and you know what?they are the only ones that get paid,we don't they should introduce a PAY AS YOU REFEREE earnings with bonuses and money deducted in case of a low markings from both sides.anyway it's the usual load of cobblers and we'll have to put up with this ,winning the fair play award a case of taking on the chin or somewhere else in our rear part of our bodies

We played for 20mins today and won 3-0. This is much more than we deserved but still 3 points. Once we started to play football we were very comfortable and our second goal was one of the best i have seen at this level. Match officals i will not be mentioning but the comments made so far are justified fully from both teams points of view. 20 chances is a bit over the top but not far off. Nice to see coachy on the day. Great that both teams managed to keep there cool under the circumstances.
