If fans say the same thing on our official messageboard I will start to pay some attention.

To build a successful team you must start with a good defence eg Braintree last year and grind out 1-0 wins as you did yesterday.

Is that the Official "unofficial" message board? Or the Unofficial "official" one I think without Fozzie there to keep 'em in check one or two comments are already getting pretty negative.

Agree about good defence and thankfully we're much better in that department than last season.

Ryan has posed a very good question there - just where has the support gone? Everything seems rather flat at the ground at the moment. Here's some of my own suggestions:

1)Poor pre-season, not only in terms of the quality of the opposition, but also some average performances.

2) Poor local media coverage (bar classic gold)

3)Lack of transfer activity - not necessarily a bad thing in keeping the same set of players but doesn't generate any talking-points in the media etc (look at the impact of tevez and mascherano at WHU)

4) Success of local clubs such as sarfend, colchester, arsenal's expanded capacity, west ham's great first season back etc.

5) Rancid football thus far - 'winning ugly' indeed. When teams aren't winning or scoring frequently the football is generally less exciting. In my opinion the highlights of the season so far have been the new kit and the physio!

One hopes we start scoring and winning more frequently, else i feel the attendances are only going to get smaller.

In terms of yesterday's game i feel it highlighted how important warran ryan is to the tempo of the game - that guy is everywhere, always offering himself in support, eager to get forward and shoot and also cover defenders when called upon. Wins every header he goes for. It also highlighted the importance of substitutes; dave collins and joe flack came on and made an immediate impact - im glad matty is not afraid of shaking things up when the situation demands it.

We badly need a striker (doesn't really need stating) but also i cant wait until whelpdale becomes available because for all matty game's endeavour and enthusiasm, he is NOT a right-sided midfield player - he lacks pace and is unable to deliver telling crosses. Lets hope the situation regarding wheldale's transfer gets resolved soon.

A mighty relief to gain another victory. Was not the prettiest but at the end of the day "we'll" all take the 3 points.

Now lads n lasses, let's get something into perspective....Today a young footballers family are somehow coming to terms with what happened at Harrowgate F.C. (Unibond Premier)?? So, if this doesnt make us all feel better about the sun shining etc etc then nothing will. I believe his name is Matt Gasby.

(Oh except that chelmsford lost )

Do we have an official "in the net" time yet. If someone could list the winning in the net times thus far this season that would be great please...preferably someone whose watch is a bit fast....
