Billericay 1 Hampton 0

A hard fought 3 points against a fancied side who are always there or thereabouts. Whilst Hodges quality on/delivering the ball always shows through, I felt as a team we played better when Collins came on.

Their keeper hotly disputed the goal (claimed it was knocked out of his hands)but I was too far away to tell. However, I'd think 9 times out of 10 a ref would give benefit of doubt to the keeper so for him to award the goal says it all.

Two from Focus Gazza! Golden Earing last week. D'you have a thing about Dutch Bands?

Great to get a win. Another at ETU on Tuesday will do the confidence the world of good.

Evening all.

My first 'riccay home game, lived in the area a year now and decided to pin my colours to the Billericay mast.

I was dead in line with the goal and it definitely looked like Flack(?) headed it out of the keeper's hands, seemed like a slight delay before the ref blew and pointed to the centre spot. To be honest I couldn't believe he gave it!.

Still no such thing as a dodgy goal, they all count.

Well done to the lads for weathering the storm and picking up the points.

MoM the Billericay keeper for me.

It wasnt pretty but its a crucial three points for us.

Again we have defended very well and have managed this time to nick a win rather than having it nicked off us.

The league is going to be very tight this season and hopefully this win against a team that is always challenging will instil some confidence into our side.

Personally I'm astonished Hodges was taken off.

McSweeney Heffer Swaine Kerrigan

Game Hunter Dormer Hodges (Collins)

Elder Poole (Flack)

We kept working hard and, apart from ten minutes before 1/2 time, we were solid at the back (Swaine and Heffer again outstanding). We didn't create as many chances as I would have liked, but the important thing was that we took one of them and if we had a little bit of luck with the goal it was certainly no more than Folkestone (For example) had to escape New Lodge with a point. Hopefully the result will give the lads confidence a boost, and we can go into the weeks cup games in a positive frame of mind.

The players looked nervous after we scored and Hampton pressed but there was some stout defending from the team. The pluses are that we have one of the best defensive records in the league this season.

With no league games for a couple of weeks, we have the opportunity to build on the result, get more confiedent up front and start scoring more goals.

Rick, the half time section is given over to the golden age of prog and rock...It was just an idea to take those two tracks as they were live and shortend versions of the originals...pleased you enjoyed them.

Probably our least deserved points of the season, but im not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Thats not to say that we were totally out played, Hampton didnt have that much to offer, but we were pretty poor going forward the most time.

The goal looked pretty dodgy to me, and the keeper was absolutely furious, but take what you can get.

Defense was again good today. Was a bit slack for a short while before half time, but Billy rescued us with a couple of fine saves, including nicking the ball off the strikers feet when he was through.

Still relatively happy about the start of the season, defense performing well, just need to be creating and converting more chances for me. Still every 3 points should be applauded.

Roll on Saturday

You are not conceding many goals whereas our defence is very poor at present. What we would do for a 1 0 win

It is all about accumulating points so that you are in the mix at xmas and I am confident that both of us we will near the top when we next meet.

Good luck for next week

Having viewed and re-viewed the video, no wonder their keeper was furious...he should have done better.

The Hampton keeper was static and expected the ball to come neatly into his hands at chest height, instead, a quick Joe Flack from the keepers blind side, was in first to head home.

A well worked, and deserved goal.

Full video will be shown in the clubhouse Thursday evening.

Well done lads, a well earned 3 points

BC...nope....

From what I see your guys on your forums are doing it all for us....The Ryman League there are calls for Craig Edwards to come back (from the same source that was telling us that it won't be worth any of the teams turning up this season as Chelmsford have the league title in the "bag")...A very angry sean, telling everyone that there is a lack of commitment from the players...Mr. Toffee getting upset and insulting....From what I read, it all looks like the dummies are being spat out all over the place...

No need for us to get involved, you all seem quite capable to make yourselves look a right bunch of "charlies" without our help...

It really couldn't happen to a nicer bunch, really.

TC is it possible to digitise a clip to put on the internet? I wouldn't have a clue how to do such a thing, but hosting wouldn't be a problem...

The videoing is for the management really, but if fans want to watch, then they are more than welcome.

Did the Ref get to see the Video? May have made him feel happier about it as the Hampton keeper was giving him lots of "verbals" after the final whistle.

Balmoral, I was waiting for the points margin to widen a bit further before getting too cockey!

Gazza ignore the Ryman message board. If fans say the same thing on our official messageboard I will start to pay some attention.

There does seem to be a lack of committment amongst most of our players and that is worrying and is bugging us fans. There is no doubt that we have a group of good players but that does not mean you are a good team.

To build a successful team you must start with a good defence eg Braintree last year and grind out 1-0 wins as you did yesterday.

It is early days and no team wins the league in September
