HANG ON ALL THE TEAMS WE HA VE PLAYED THIS SEASON ARE ALL TEAMS THAT SEEM TO BE STUGGLING AND ARE IN THE WRONG END OF THE TABLE. LETS FACE IT WE FOUND IT HARD AT HOME AGAINST EAST THURROCK AN SLOUGH. ALTHOUGH WE HAD A GOOD RESULT AGAINST CHELMSFORD THEY DO NOT SEEM TO BE SETTING THE WORLD ON FIRE LOOKING AT THEIR RESULTS. YES LETS HOPE ITS ONE OFF RESULT ALTHOUGH I CAN NOT REMEMBER US GETTING HAMMERED BY A RESULT LIKE THIS LAST SEASON, ITHINK WE SHOULD PLAY THE 1ST TEAM ON TUESDAY AND TRY AND SHAKE OFF THIS QUITE ABYSMAL DEFEAT. LETS FACE IT THE RAMS WERE TO BEAT US WE WOULD NEVER HEAR THE LAST OF IT. ALSO LOOKING AT THEIR RESULTS IN THE CALIBER OF TEAMS THEY HAVE PLAYED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF EAST THURROCK WHO THEY BEAT 3-0 TODAY ARE ALL IN THE TOP HALF OF THE TABLE. MY CASE RESTS

Ive seen Premiership teams concede 6 at times but come back & put things right next time out.It happens to other GOOD teams too occasionally Michael. Things were put right next time & scorelines of that magnitude werent seen again for those sides.Thats what we have to do.Put it behind us & make sure it dosent occur again. If it does then well, yes,we have a big problem. We are still a very good team & that shouldnt change just because of todays reversal. In fact it should IMPROVE things further.Only time will tell.

This is still the best team I have seen here for some years & that opinion hasnt changed just because of todays scoreline. If it does happen again then I think it would be fair to ask sterner questions.

Its a hiccup & it will have taught even these seasoned players that nothing can be taken for granted. If I had been there today then I may have had more negative comments to make but I wasnt so I am taking this approach tonight instead.

All teams in this division I think can beat one another.Even Folkestone sitting pretty at the bottom of the table gave us a good run for our money even though we beat them 5-1.They were in that game for long periods & were unlucky not to have closed that deficit that day.Worthing got a fine draw against Hampton & Richmond against the odds.

Nothing is going to be easy for any club & there will be other shocks such as todays for other clubs in the future. Thats for sure!

Just so long as we arent on the end of another one like todays & it is US that inflict big margin wins on oppositions. Thats what counts. With our strikers & goalscorers it is odds on that we have more chance of doing so than other teams have. No panic, embarrassment for today but still confident that we are going places this year. Besides todays result takes the pressure off of us by being beaten that far & by being knocked of our perch in the table. We will come back,no doubt!!!

We will have learned I hope & improve further from todays result. We KNOW how good our players are! We've seen it on more than one occasional.

And we will see it again, especially because of today!!

Kamikaze football today and considering a couple of players didnt look to have even left the dressing room we were all over the shop. Heads dropped too quickly and the opponents must have felt their confidence growing as ours was sapped. Everything Boreham touched went in and we never got hold of the game in midfield. Lads will need to be regrouped for the challenges ahead starting next Saturday. I assume Tuesday's waste of time cup is not being taken seriously. Surely we aren't bothered about winning that cup.

I totally agree we remain a good team.

Thats really why i remain in shock and indeed angry.

I could accept the Grays defeat 2 seasons ago-depressing but we were a rubbish side anyway then, but i find yesterday so much harder to come to terms with.

My concern is that apparently heads dropped too easily.

That is my main concern-why was that allowed to happen ?

We are part-time and have bad days, but when you are paid £200-£400 a week ,you have a responsibility not to let your head drop-that last minute goal could cost on goal difference at end of season.

Whilst the defence is a bit pedestrian, its not that bad-Wild and JD both showed pace against W and H.Defence starts in midfield-why was more protection not given.

Again, with 10 conference national experienced, outfield players, we remain a good side and i am sure remain committed. We will continue to win more than we lose,we will have more bad days, but i just can't come to terms with a team of our quality conceding 6 goals.

I was always going to be content with a top half finish anyway-although after Chelmsford admittedly did start to think of play-offs.

A good FA Cup run and top 8 will see me content from the season anyway, but i can never ever accept conceding 6 goals-that is truly shocking

To let in six says its more than a bad day at the office

By the sound of it MM you were not able to make yesterday, correct if i'm wrong. I could see no evidence of head dropping apart from perhaps the last 5 mins. Profs could not be arrsed once at the end to run back. generally as i said on my nightmare report the attack looked terrific for this level indeed the best i have seen and that includes all of Ck's years and the 1960's.

The defence to me is very pedestrian. No quick players no players who can keep to position and stop flankers from getting around the back. They are good players in themselves indeed CW is a great find and will score goals with his height. His head did not drop, he even wanted a set too with their full back in injury time.

If, and lets face it with two managers, they get their heads together to sort this out we will be a force to reckon with. The way we play the ball on the ground is certainly better than CK's style BUT CK had a huge experience of years on how to defend. We look naive at the moment and any team, perhaps even a t park level, would score against us at the moment. I trust this will change.

Michael, their heads did not drop, that's not it at all.

I think they were shocked, we all were. But the tactic to rally was not effective, we lost shape and concentration, the attacks were not effective. Basically we lost it. We stopped doing the simple things well. But we did battle to the end. These are experienced players, this should not have happened.

At the beginning of the second half, we were coming back in, we got the penalty, there was no reason to think that, if we had regrouped and slowly built back up we could not have got something out of the game. But instead it went downhill. Maybe with our succesful start to the season complacency was part of it. Who knows? We do need a strategy to combat pace at the front and wings if all-out attack by our team is not doing the business for us.

Correct Geoff-not there, and maybe a bit reasuring that heads did not drop.

Makes it harder still to believe we conceded 6.

As i say, defence is not that pedestrian, and the midfield should be protecting it anyway.

If you are organised, you can cover the slight lack of pace in defence-we are not that slow as is made out.

Defeats happen ,but struggling to come to terms with conceding 6 .

We all have our own things, and frankly, i could not careless about 'sexy football' and would take boring 1-0 wins all the time.( i actually think 1-0 wins are more exciting anyway as you are always on the edge of your seat.)

I like to see a strong defensive display so conceding goes against my phiosophy.

Anyway-time to move on.

Again, at least no-one got sent off and lost the plot entirely, which would have been even more unprofessional in the circumstances

I recall lots of complaints about CK's team and defending deep. But that is how to defend against pace. If our "slower" defence get's caught defedning to far up te pitch the opoisiton just needs a little pace and you have a on-on-one at best. It seems to me to be about balance and options in defence. And let's not forget that this is Trott's first management job. We know (because he has and Mike have said in interviews with me) that they are look at and talking to a number of players. One of which is a defender. I guess this has to go down to (unpleasant) experience. But the key is to learn and move on. I have no doubt that's what Robin and Mike will do.

Oates and Wild are more than capable defenders at this level-just needs a bit of better organising and the midfield holding on to the ball a bit longer to keep the pressure off.

Would never want to see a sweeper again, but we do need someone with pace playing defensive midfield just in front of defence -Hasim Deen was ideally suited to that .

I hope your forum do not mind if I as a Wood supporter add a few points to this list.

Obviously I am delighted by our performance yesterday but say this to all you Margate fans. Don't be too downhearted by this one-off it does happen I'm sure in the past and probably in the future you may have more days like this. Last season Wood had a 20+ point lead at the top of the Southern League, then failed to win any of their last ten games and won the title only on goal difference.

What I am trying to say is that after meeting many of you yesterday I am truly impressed with your support ( yes even after going five-one down)your optimism and most of all I was impressed with the fact that your team did not resort to dirty or unworthy tactics. Take heart and I wish you all the best for the rest of the season and look forward to the day in March when I will be visiting your ground for the return. After all is said and done your team are in the top three and you must be there for a reason. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

think a lot of the problem is we have got used to not losing , but we all knew it would happen sooner or later , but did not expect it to be by this amount , when all is going so well its great but when your hit hard in the stomach with a defeat like this its very hard to take in and understand. If we feel this way just imagine how the boys must feel today , they are a winning side and they will sort out there probs im sure , roll on tues night we can be that 5th man at the back if we have to ( up the Gate).
