John, Campbell (Capt – 100 appearance), Bastian, Gant, Stephen, Magona, Velandia, Black, Crace, Hammatt, Smith, Hunt, Tickner, Hughes, Nyman, Caseido

Well town started actively enough and it only took 2 minutes for Ricci Crace to slot home a shot past Crumpen. Town fans relaxed and looked forward to a hatful of goals. Unfortunately the front line of Witham can also score goals and on 10 minutes they recovered the deficit 1 – 1. Michael Black shot wide. Jerome John went out to meet a cross and the striker went round him and shot and still missed phew! David Bastian scored a lovely goal for it to be cleared out by a defender blocking the line of sight of the linesman. No goal! One of those things! At the other end on 32 minutes Witham scored again, 2 – 1 to the home team. Paul Campbell a lovely cross for David Bastian to have a fantastic shot just inside the post – surely this must be the equalizer? But Crumpen saved it. Awesome shot and save. Poor Bastian - rotten luck! Bryan Hammatt headed into the keepers arms. Half-time and it did not feel all was lost but carelessness at the back certainly didn’t help town in the first half.

Second half began again positively with Town pushing up looking for the equalizer. On the 52nd minute Town won a free-kick just outside the box. Steve Velandia lined it up and curled it around the wall and into the top corner. Lovely goal – Rudi would be proud! 2 – 2. Dean Nyman on for David Bastian and within seconds Dean was charging down the left causing all sorts of problems. Lee Smith shot wide from a set piece. On 65 minutes under the pressure from town a defender shoved with both hands Bryan Hammatt in the back (right next to the referee). He pointed to the spot with no hesitation. Bryan stepped up and shot, Crumpen blocked the shot but the rebound sat up sufficiently for Bryan to head home the rebound. 2 – 3. Michael Black off and on came Dave Hunt. Lee Smith crossed for Ricci Crace to head just over the bar – rats. Finally on 78 minutes Dean Nyman made a lovely cross for Paul Campbell in his 100th game to head home with an Exocet of a header leaving the keeper no chance. 2 – 4. Simon Tickner on for Steve Magona.

Nice to see the lads motivated collecting 3 well earned points. This was a much improved performance over the Ruislip Manor game but still some way to go in a number of departments.

I am glad we won or there would be a right old argument over whether it was over the line or not! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
