Whoa, didn't do it for us over the last season in the Prem (could be a combination of injuries, playing on the wing, not always looking for the simple pass etc) but he blitzed the Ryman Div 1 the season before. Phenominal signing for you, I seem to remember every fan putting him as the best opposition player in a thread of the Ryman board as well. Good luck to him and you, if he can get a run behind the front two, he will get another club from a higher level come in for him again but also get you promotion, without a doubt.

99% of Dons fans are very sad to see him go, but we wish him all the best and thank him for some breathtaking skill and wonderful memories. If he stays fit, you have just signed easily the most technically gifted player in the Ryman 1. I'm not kidding, he REALLY is that good. Nice modest lad as well..we'll miss him. Ursell has become a Womble legend <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bow.gif" alt="" />

You are in for a treat...he scored some genuinely jaw-dropping goals for us, just check these two clips out...pure individual genius; this one in a cup game at Dunstable: http://www.donsonline.net/videos/20041002/clip9.mpg, and even better this one away at Bromley

A group of Slough fans saw him play for the England Futsal side last season in a double header against Finland. Two former Slough players were involved Glen Harris and Alex Haddow. He certainly seemed to have plenty of skill but never sure how well that transfers itself from five a side. He certainly did will for AFC at your level and it seems on paper an excellent and surprising signing. Got to wonder about his fitness though...

  • 2 months later...

Got an update today in the local paper (Observer). Website is down so I can't link, but here's the main gist...

.... after two months of sitting on the sidelines with knee ligament damage he is set to take part in first team training.

Simon Lane said "Rob will be returning to light training next week"... Lane was still unwilling to name a date when Ursell would be available again for first team selection, and with the Royalists in such good form at present it is hardly worth rushing him back prematurely...

they're not kidding about selection problems, of the nice kind. On the right wing and playing well, we've had Case, Ursell, Porter and O'Connor; and IMO they're all highly capable, fast and can change games. Porter probably has the edge at the moment because of all the goals he's scored, but it could be very tight once they're all fully fit!
