Fire safety in the bar

Told by a member of the Kent Fire Service last night that they have received a complaint from someone concerning the fire safety aspect of the social club.

Main concerns seems to be the lack of fire exits. The chap from the service is trying to get hold of someone to let him look over the place to check this out.

Dont know about you lot but I know of at least 3 fire exits out of the place with a fourth behind the bar.

Just wondered who tried to shop us to the authorities? Maybe hope to close the bar down and effect income?? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

The ruling as far as I was told last night is we are limited to 100 people in the bar because we only have 2 double door exits. There was concern about the kitchen door being wedged open and people using the toilet going passed it (I can see the worry in case a kicthen fire broke out). Also the person complaining stated that the old fire exit by the gents toilet has shelves in front of it!!!!!!!

Someone claimimg to be from TDC complained to me about emergency exits from the ground a couple of home games ago, might be him !

You mention the "ground" there Dave. Frankie was mentioning the club only.I cant see a problem with either. What was this guy on for goodness sake? Besides is that all he came to the game for I wonder,to spy.Is this a tactic to prevent us getting that permission for the ground maybe? No I'm sure it isnt.Thats probably just me being suspicious.
We have had the same fire exits there for years, in fact we now have MORE exits than before so why suddenly is it a problem? Again maybe the rules have changed lately that we are not aware of but somehow I still think theres nought to worry over.

If there was a problem with the ground exits then the council would have declined the application for our current temporary facilities and also the bar would have been closed down years ago if there was innsuficiant fire exits, especially when every year there is someone who goes round the ground doing safety checks. To me someone is nit picking.

Surly this should have been passed onto M,I,S,A, or the Club and not aired in public on the forum. Don't we have enough people out there waiting to have a go without encouraging it ourselves.

Definately agree with you BB. I do believe that we had a check a while ago. The social club was given the all clear with no mention of any more fire exits needed. There happens to be 4 fire exits within the social club, all with easy access to the outside world.

I have a sneaky suspicion that maybe this person is trying to stir up a bit of s**t? Do we know who this is maybe?!!

There are plenty of fire extinguishers to hand- these are always checked. Plenty of fire exits- clearly labelled. Wheres the problem???

Believe me, ive already planned my escape route, imshoving bernie, tam and jackie out the way and legging it out the back of the bar!!!!

I hope all you health and safety nuts out there have already planned your route out of the social club?!!!!
