Possibly so, but given it's limited life span is it really worth spending loads of dosh on it?

Possibly not, but surely a coat of paint so that at the vey least its all one colour would cost not a lot............how about doing a deal with a company that already advertises, or certainly used to, on the ground perimeter Trade Paints in Grove Road?

In any case the following quote from the club's official website implies that a 'new' stand of some sort is to be erected....."The works on the Northfleet end of the ground are provisionally expected to start in a fortnight’s time, with the initial enabling work being started. Once this is completed, the stand will be erected, and this will start no later than the end of June"

By the way the seating looks excellent, certainly better than I was expecting. The overall affect however is spoiled by the stand roof.

The cost of the piant is barely an issue, but the cost of applying that paint to the roof would be considerable.

Scaffolding would have to be erected, probably along the whole length of the stand and over the roof, because it is certainly not safe to stand on.

You then have to consider whether the roof itself could take the work, it might just fall apart leaving the club with the additional cost of either replacing the whole roof or removing it completely.

If you look, the seats are mounted on a new stand which has then been attached to the floor of the existing structure, thus creating a stand within a stand.

To be fair the club did ask us supporters to go stadium and help tidy the place up during the summer.

I for one never responded to the challenge.

I may well be wrong but was the sponsor for the Fleet - Altrincham game a Painters and decorators????

Maybe they could be approached to do it for free, and allow them to place there name up there for avertising purposes??? As long as the Fleet was in large letters across the middle ?? etc

Truman Beers already have that privilege - although I somehow suspect it isn't a very lucrative 'sponsorship' deal for the Club.

So Scott will we be returning to our spiritual home?

Of course, so will the rest of us, we can have our little contest now to see who makes the most noise: the half way line or our lot behind the goal.
