This is the first time i have been on line since Tuesday.

I thought it was an entertaining encounter, end to end. The defence with the partnership of Donovan and Wild looks solid and was amazed at the pace they both showed at times.

Greg Oates goes from strength to to strength.

Dean Standen, again standing in a position which is not his natural one and on his wrong foot was magnificent. One or two passes were over long,(even Melvin had good words for him) so what.

The midfield was excellent, the one touch passing, the ball winning, the passing forward was good. I cannot say enough about the way they played the balls out wide. The long wing to wing passing was out of this Ryman Premier world.

As for the forwards.

Pinnocks work rate never ceases to amaze me, his goal was class.

Danny Hockton could have had a hat trick again, no body can do it all the time.

Aaron Robinson came for Danny and they are big shoes to fill. Aaron played well, made a nuisance of himself and came close to getting 2.

Chris Wild also had one cleared of the line when the keeper somehow got a hand to it.

The only player to deserve a mention other than a Gate one was the opposition keeper. Second half i thought he played out of his skin to keep them in it.

Our Keeper pulled of a couple of great stops second half and did what we have become accustomed to from him.

The Gate are playing the best football i have seen for many a good year. What more can they do to stop the critics. Lets go to the games to enjoy it while we have it.

UP the Gaaaaaaaaate, onwards and upwards.

P.S. Spoke to KP yesterday, He said NEVILLE SOUTHALL is on board to coach all the keepers from 1st team downwards.

If you cannot make the game Saturday like me don't forget the reserves are at home 3-00pm kick off and, the U18's play Dover at home on Sunday 11-00 am.

Agree with all that you say BB. We won the right to play football after the first ten minutes and then controlled the game from that point onwards. Some delightful football. A one touch backheel volley from Pinns which led to a goal. I don't think I have seen better football from a Gate side. Everyone played very well again and Danny was denied by some good work by their keeper on a couple of occasions. Hopefully the swelling on his ankle is going down quickly.

 

Scott Chalmers-Stevens never ceases to amaze me. So confident and very decisive. Always good with his distribution and puts opponents on the backfoot immediately. McKimm controlled the game and Pinns ran his socks off and was rewarded with a terrific goal. Either could have man of the match. Proths goal also fantastic. Top drawer. Above all else we look a terrific unit and everyone knows their jobs extremely well.

Yep Blueblood thought that this is a good summary.

 

It is especially good to see Greg having a better season. When he first arrived he had the Arsenal pedigree about him and he looked dangerous everytime he ventured down the wing. I thought he went backwards a bit over the last couple of seasons but clearly the potential is still there and is starting to come through again.

 

Lets hope his confidence continues!

Think Gate watcher sums it up the difference this season to last- 'everyone knows their jobs'.

 

Its a simple game really, and keeping it simple can actually make for very entertaining football.

 

It won't go right every week, but overall its great stuff
