Roy Essendoh and Martin Carthy have joined Grays for 10,000 and Andy Douglas has joined in return. Rod Moore says the deal was completed on Christmas Eve and that Andy Douglas would have played today.

Would someone like to tell we what is happening to this football club?! At this rate it is only going to be a matter of time before we cannot field a team for a game. Also we have trouble scoring goals and we sell our top goalscorer?!?!? Is anyone else confused?

Essandoh - Could have left for nothing at the end of the season. One of our highest paid players apparently. Dissappointed he's gone but 10k a good deal.

Douglas - Good sigining in my opinion, a dangerous front man who before his stabbing was top scorer in the division last season. Scored against us when he played for Boreham wood (on loan from Grays) at start of season.

Carthy - Was struggling to get in the team with Penn and Williams the men in possession in the centre of the park. I've never been one of his biggest fans but his departure leaves us a bit weak in midfield.

Unfortunately these things do come down to money - we can't afford to run a 20 man squad with Roy, DJ, Fewings, Douglas (to name but 4) all running around up front. Hopefully the 10k received from Grays will enable us to i) Hang on to the players we've got and ii) Bring in a couple of new faces - a striker and a midfielder would be on my wish list.

I reckon we got the best of the deal,Andy a great guy but not the player he was before his terrible stabbing.

Essendoah looked good against us the other week hopfully will carry on banging them in as he was for you.

We seem to have a few bob so we wont miss £10,000.

Your players were down at Grays v Purfleet today so we may have a couple more yet.????

Good luck in the New Year to you and hope Dougie does it for you.

shame about essandoh, he is a wycscum reject so we would look forward to giving him some stick he left stortford just before we played them so I think he's running scared of us

Joe Baker has been absolutely amazing for us so far and is really on form, him and craig maskell are linking up superbly and joe looks like our best player.

I agree we are weak in midfield, actually we don't have a midfield, Wills has totally lost his form. Anyway he does not play well in the anchor role. I'm afraid Russell has a lot of heart but is not a midfielder, he is better defender - Carthy was a better midfielder. What we need is what we were promised from Calder last season and again at the start of this season, is an experienced, ex-league player in the midfiled anchor role. This player must be captain as we don't have a leader on the pitch.

As far as a squad of 20 is concerned, we don't have that many. How many times have we played recently without a full bench, at Hampton there was the invisible Savage, at Havant, Gilley was not fit but on the bench and there are others examples. By the way Simon, DJ has gone so we don't have to pay for him.

As far as strikers are concerned, Andy Douglas has been replaced at Boreham by Scott Forester who scored a hatrick on Saturday !!!!

Are we making progress on the playing side or is the new stadium taking the Mangement Team in a fantasy world ????

this whole think stinks.

1) joe leaves, no doubt saving the club a fair whack in wages and gaining a fee for him.

2) Wouldnt sign DJ as he was 'unmanagable', not to mention the £300 a week after tax that he wanted.

3) Carthy, leaves and he was a top earner of ours (from a purfleet source he was on more than the £300 that the club wouldnt pay DJ, maybe just fiction who knows)

4) Roy goes for 10k

5) Brennan goes, who could have been this ex-league player we needed, but ex league players come at a cost and now hes gone.

My point is this, all the above point to us not having the money to make the team a success yet we can build a multi million stadium that a) we wont fill B) is to play league football, now bearing in mind we havent finished above 7th and this season is now turing into a nightmare,we wont even need this stadium.

for f**ks sake mr chairman - we are football fans, we want to see the best players we can in the blue shirts. And you wonder why the gate is down.

Roy was a consistant goal scorer, i admit his effort in other areas of the field was lacking and he was absent for long periods of games, but i would rather a roy scoring every other week than a jamie wallace wanting to fight anyone who has the nerve to tackle him. If he could leave for nothing at the end of the season why was this not worked out better when we first signed him, or were we purely in it for a profit?

Carthy is a quality player who was suffering bad form and bad management tactics (russell playing as the attacking midfielder when he is more used to being a defender). He was an asset to the team and was our top scorer last year. According to the management he must have become a bad player just like Joe and wasnt good enough for 'midtable ricay'

So now we have Jamie as a dead cert to start and Fewings can get excited about lots and lots of long balls to chase.

how long before the grahams get fed up with this? Richard G should have gone when he had the chance.

so are we skint?

are we being run by idiots who just want a big stadium, just like some blokes feel better for having a porsche but then cant afford anything else?

or is calder just f**king usless?

The point I was trying to make about having a 20 man squad with all those players in (and I know DJ has gone!) is that unless we can find another 3 or 4k a week at least (and I'm guessing on those figures a touch!) it's not going to happen. Whether you like it or not it does all boil down to ££££ - if we haven't got the money we can't go around spending it. The stadium thing is a chicken and egg situation - we need the stadium revenue (from the sports facilities/hotel/etc) to increase the playing budget to build a team to take us up.

as roys contract was out at da end of season its sensible 2 cash him now then get nought whether down da line as he wouldnt hang round us as a mid table club going nowhere fast with a s*it manager n weve got forward out whos got a good track record n i he ll eventually pull himself 2gther

carthy is another matter as midfield we needed 2 sign at least 1 not sell our best central midfield

hopefully we ll reinvest da cash in2 sum midfielders mayb we ll get that ex league anchor man n mayb pigs will fly n gazza will sign 4 canvey more likely a reserve teamer will get promoted n russ ll b conyinued 2 b wasted in da centre of da park

also baso council willl b more likely 2 b giving da club a back hander as they r so desperate 2 nick another towns footy club

also as 10 confernce clubs r leaving 2 join da north south divsions what will b da new confernce ground grading 4 da 1 n 2nd divsiosn

Centre Midfield - Definately now the problem area, although unlike PUR I quite like Russell in midfield - out of Carthy, Willo and Penn I would say that Russ is the ball winner there allowing Willo (or Carthy when he was here) to play further forward. Unfortunately Willo hasn't been at his best of late - jl suggested since he got that whack to the head against Kingstonian. Could be we're going to re-visit the experiment of playing Juho in midfield but I doubt it.

Ground Requirements for Conf Divs - The conference aren't saying what the requirements are going to be - however the criteria for who is going to be admitted into any new divisions are "current stadium facilities, club finances, community, and playing record." Well I can't say I'm happy but it does seem to me that Calder does not like talented players, players with class. Since GC joined we have been through more players than I can care to remember and after four years we are still looking for a solid, complete team!!! Somthing wrong there.

I have nothing against the man but sorry, I for one think he has done all he can with and for the club. I can see a lot of people starting to wane in their support for the club after what has proven to be quite a difficult season off the pitch and another mediocore one on it.

Tonights Echo makes interesting reading regarding Roy and Martin Carthys transfers, I recommend people buy it. It appears that the desicion to sell was not Gary's. However, £10 grand (if that is the correct sum we recieved) seems to me to be good business. Remember we got Roy for nowt and at the end of the season would have been a free agent. I personally wish them both the best, especially Martin whose commitment and workrate on the pitch were second to none, an example to all.

Let's face it the season's over before Christmas again like the previous 4 seasons. Gary's 5 year plan has one year left but with no more players wanting to be humiliated (or risk being put on the bench for daring to ask questions of the manager), ITS TIME TO GO! The days of player motivation by abuse has long gone.......and I don't want BORG either. Is it me or does there seem to be a hidden agenda etc.etc.???? Is there 11 players we haven't tried????
