Edgware to appeal over last nights result!!!!

Recommended Posts

From the official site...

Mr Tweed, the referee in last nights game, against Harefield United, disallowed Edgware's penalty in the second half for encroachment. Giving the visitors an indirect free kick. His decision was wrong and does not follow FA rule 14 which states that as ball entered the goal the the penalty should have been retaken.

Edgware Town will now appeal the result as the referees decision adversely affected Edgware levelling the game and taking a share of the points

...

Watch this space as they say.....I would love it if Edgware manage to get the result changed or game replayed

It will be interesting to see how far you take this and what the outcome will be.

My feelings are that if you were to be successful, it could set a long-term trend for bigger parties to feed off. Not good for the game.

Gutting I know, but if matches are to be replayed etc for one wrong decision then our already over-sanitised game will end up be played in the courts.

And another thing, why have PA taken to spelling your name wrong again?

i think brook should appeal too, we played chertsey last yr and they only supplied 10 bits of chicken instead of the usual 15, hoping to get the 3 points we lost which would make us champions!!!

Does that mean you chickened out <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bigshock.gif" alt="" />

Gavin, I do feel thats a bit extreme appealing over it to try and get the game replayed. Its a disgrace I admit but accept it and move on.

And how can Edgware possibly say it affected the game. The penalty should have been retaken yes but it could have been missed. And Edgware levelling might have encouraged harefield to raise their game and score again.

I'm sorry but that is a ludicrous decision. Yes send in a letter of complaint about the official but the result should stand.

I dont think you have any chance at getting the result changed Gavin, and no matter how frustrating it is I doubt that the game will be replayed either.

I would imagine that the result would stand with the ref getting a rap over the knuckles (which we probably won't hear about).

From the Edgware and Mill Hill Times, surprisingly no mention of the contoversial incident:

Edgware Town were finally brought down to earth on Tuesday night after a sensational start to the new season. The Wares had won their first four matches to top the Spartan South Midlands Premier League, but a fifth straight win eluded them on Tuesday when visitors Harefield United left the White Lion Ground with all three points following a 1-0 triumph. Harefield could be Edgware's biggest rivals this season, United have only played three games but have won them all. Town, who remain two points clear at the top, have scored 17 goals in their first five matches, conceding just two. They thumped local rivals Kingsbury 4-0 on Saturday, Lee Gardner (2), Stuart Blackburne and Richard Morton all on target in what was another excellent display.

The Wares, under the joint management of Steve Newing and Del Deanus, take a break from league action this Saturday when they host Hertford Town in the first round of the FA Vase.

Gavin - Was this your post on the another Forum, if so there have been a lot of responses incase you haven't seen them yet:

On Tuesday Edgware lost 0-1 at home to Harefield Utd in the Spartan south Midlands Premier Div. Both sides were unbeaten coming into the match. Harefield took the lead in the first half through a dubious penalty. Second half Edgware provided a lot of pressure and won a penalty, the penalty was taken and scored, while the Edgware players were celebrating the goal, Harefield broke down the ptich, the goal had NOT been given.

The referee said there had been encroachment in the area, and awarded Harefield an indirect free kick to restart the game.

The FA rules cleary state.

A team-mate of the player taking the kick enters into the penalty area or moves in front of or within 9.15m (10yds) of the penalty mark:

the referee allows the kick to proceed

if the ball enters the goal, the kick is retaken

If the ball does not enter the goal, the referee stops play and restarts the match with an indirect free kick to the defending team.

If the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper, the crossbar or the goal post and is touched by this player, the referee stops play and restarts the match with an indirect free kick to the defending teamEdgware have made an appeal to the FA, what do you think should happen.

1. Result to stand

2. Result changed to 1-1

3. Replay the game

4. Nothing.
