Well at the moment who is going to stop Margate. Last season Braintree won it by being a complete unit in which each player knew exactly their job. Not so much as pretty but effective. Margate (not seen them thus far) appear to be going for the we'll score more goals than anyone put together scenario! It is a tough league, and probably stronger than last season. Yourselves will obviously be strong as will AFC and Bromley too. Throw into the hat Hampton (consistently top 5 team for a few years), Heybridge, ourselves (if we learn to score) and a few others with aspirations to out do the so called bigger guns then you have what i think is the toughest Ryman for quite a while. The good thing about non-league though is that a number of teams can have a very indifferent start, but can make up ground reasonably well. Hopefully that will be us too <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Afternoon all,

Long time no see, reading this quote from Keith I'm glad we got out of the Ryman Prem when we did. Looks a very competitive league this year (like last season of course!).

Played Margate in a pre season friendly, although a friendly they wiped the floor with us. I knew I should have had the 16/20-1 bet when I had the chance...and my e/w on Tonbridge!

Still we've enjoyed a good start to the season. Not sure whether there's a gulf in class or that we have significantly improved from last year, probably the latter in trusth although Newport County are a tough outfit.

All the best

Even more compliments from two from Fisher and Billericay

Now if you want to see another non-league side doing well then check out KEITH Played 3 won 3 and won 5-0 away in the Scottish Cup.

Looks like a "match" between them & Histon this season Alan at the moment. Two strong sides this season. They play each other tomorrow do they not?

I must admit that before the season started Histon were my choice but it will be interesting to see who, out of the two of them will prevail come the end of the season. I may get this wrong, but even at this stage of the season I dont think any other club will be challenging for the title.I do think these two will pull away from the rest.

My brother-in-law who lives & teaches here in Margate comes from Cross Keys so he was & still is a Newport fan also. Maybe they will do the business for both of you.

Cross Keys was very close to where I lived Tony and if U look on Newport badge it used to have some crossed keys! I was a fan when they were in the Football League b4 the Council kicked them out of their ground. Would love to see them do well again as got a big fan base. New ground crap tho, running track all around pitch!
