Hale Returns To Northwood

Northwood made a seven day approach for Steve Hale and he has returned to the table topping side only months after joining Slough.

He never quite seemed to hit it off, and it would appear the final straw was his trip to Oz. The matter of regular football was a big part in his decision to return.

All the best Steve on your return to Northwood and good luck for the future.

That's a shame although in the few games he played I'm not sure he ever looked like the goalscorer that his previous time at Northwood suggested. Mind you, neither does Deji Davies so maybe it's us?

Steve Hale was always very approachable and took time to talk to people. I hope he does well although not whilst in the same division as us of course!

Great one!

Let a decent player leave and go to the league leaders for whom he'll no doubt score on January 4th.

Very strange that A. Blake is third choice for us yet can be first choice for a Premier team, and now Hale can join the league leaders yet be 4th or 5th choice for the Rebels.

There is something seriously wrong with our club and though its stoking old fires that have been going for a couple of years now, the problem lies with Mr. Browne

There does seem to be some pattern forming with either players coming here and under achieving or players leaving and signing for better clubs. A few examples of strikers with proven scoring records signing for us and then somehow stop scoring. Steve Hale, Deji Davies and Paul Coombes. All were prolific goalscorers before they arrived at Slough, but just couldn't re-capture that form for us? strange me thinks... something to do with the manager maybe?

Plus as someone said players leaving for higher clubs, even though they struggle at Slough. Blake a great example, also Rainford, and others that i can't recall at this moment in time though... if someone can remember please let me know!

Yes, it's very strange at Slough. Paul Coombs was an excellent goalscorer then he could not score, Deji Davies scored goals for fun and he has not had the greatest of starts to his career.

Also Roscoe Dsane - remember him. He looked very average with us and now is one of the best players in the Ryman league with Aldershot.

We have had some class players over the last few years - even the side that got relegared had so much talent it was amazing we got relegated.

It's the same again this year - we should be at the top, but were not. Stange!

Its Service that counts. if you watch Tony boot from the 25 yard line like I do then you will see that when the midfied has the ball he makes 3 or 4 attempts to break for goal (checking back each time to avoid offside) befor the ball is moved forward. He is looking for quick service, and the midfield isnt providing it.

I spoke to a reliable source on Saturday. There has never been a "falling out" between Steve Hale and Browne........it is just that Browne thought that from the start of the season that Hale was not fit and from then on, Browne has never bothered to speak to Hale again. Hale confirmed that the club were aware of the trip to Oz. Now, if Browne doesn't even want to try to communicate with Hale........why shouldn't he look for a club that do want him ????

defrancog, there was a bust up between the two - that came from the horses mouth.

In my original posting, the Oz trip was the cover, but I do think that it was the final straw in many respects as we began to play well without Steve, he'd struggled to find his Northwood form with us and Boot emerged with a bit of form.

Also defrancog, this thing you mention about Browne not contacting players and speaking with them, I hear this is a regular thing with him and it happens a lot. Another form of superb management.

Sometimes that man amazes me with his ineptness (Is that even a word??) and his total lack of knowledge about how to actually run a side.....
