Oxford United at home

On a serious note, the 'away terrace' at the Hatfield Road end holds 1300, I believe. If we make that the 'home terrace' for the Oxford match. their lot could have the York Road end and the Cola stand which would be around 3/3500 or so.

Mind you. They would have to get through the York Road turnstile complex. They should take Gibbo's advice and start queuing on the Wednesday evening. The York Road Residents Association might oblige with bunting, roadside B-B-Qs, souvenir stalls and the like. They would just love it to death. It has an appeal in itself.

I'm finding it difficult to 'take the positives' from those contributions, chaps. When I read 'em closely, I detected a hint of ..... what shall we call it?..... negatives. And we'll have none of that nonsense around here.

As I understand the position, those chaps and gels from the Supporters Club Committee - and what a fine job they do, too - have made enquiries and, having regard to the level of turnover, margins, overheads, and the like, the cost of the premium charged by these credit card wallahs for the telephone credit card machinery thingy stuff is prohibitive.

I imagine that the club - that's SACFC rather than the Supporters Club - will need the credit card thingy stuff shortly if some games are to be all-ticket for visitors.

Perhaps they could share the machine.

"The home fixture against Oxford United is April 14th. The odds are that this game will be vital for them to clinch a play-off place or win the title. (They might have already done it by then in which case they will have a lot of fair-weather supporters). "

[color:"black"] [/color] Whatever the allocation of tickets are to us we will fill it, for 2 reasons, firstly you are only a stones throw away from Oxford compared with places like Morecombe and Exeter and secondly we have a good away following. If you check the figures for league 2 last season you will find we had the 2nd or 3rd best away attendance and that was when, quite frankly, we were absolutely rubbish.

It is entirely up to your club what they charge us for the match though it would be rather silly to hike the prices sky high just to "get your own back" for the price we charge for admittance. We the fans did not set the prices and neither did our present chairman. The expression about geese and golden eggs springs to mind. If, as I read, £32K represents 2 months expenditure then every little helps.

We are not all professors or retired dons. Some of us have had successful military careers before moving into civvy street but rich we are not.

My children and I will be at the game. We do not attend every away match as my duties often clash with football and I can not swing it to get away for every match but you are firmly pencilled in and leave will be taken if necessary.

Finally, we do not have fair weather fans - we are not big enough for that, we have a loyal supporter base which is slowly returning back to the days when we had 10K plus every week. We have a long way to go yet but we are getting there.

Enjoy your season, hopefully we will meet for another terrific match in April.

Regards

Kevin

PS: We do not have a hooligan element so there should be no fighting just the normal name calling.
