Oxford United at home

The home fixture against Oxford United is April 14th. The odds are that this game will be vital for them to clinch a play-off place or win the title. (They might have already done it by then in which case they will have a lot of fair-weather supporters).

Going by the gate at Oxford, they will probably want to bring about 4,000 to Clarence Park. We can only fit 1,000 in at the away end and even that would be a crush. Aldershot had 570 and the end terrace looked quite full then. See Aldershot pictures

Any suggestions?

 

Split the ground 50:50 with new fences?

Play the game somewhere else? (could get 10,000 at Watford or Luton if it's a real vital game)

If it's all-ticket (which it will need to be at CP), when do we start selling them?

Can't see any benefit playing at Watford or Luton - financial or otherwise.

 

If it's that big a game, then we ought to be able to fill three-quarters of the ground with City fans.

 

The 3,000 Oxford fans that can't get in? Well, that's their hard cheese.

here's an idea, give them the same as all other away teams this season but charge them 16£., I'd start selling them now though you can never be too careful.

 

Did Aldershot bring more when we played them in the Diadora?

I don't see any reason why we should make any exception for Oxford. I'm with JK.

I agree that we should inflate the prices for Oxford. However, we'd be silly to throw away 2,000 x £16 because we can only accomodate 1,300 away fans.

 

£32,000 is amost two month's budget.

Do what most clubs do - put it on sale to our own fans, and if there are tickets left over with a week to go, increase Oxford's allocation.

I wonder how the club would cope with an all ticket game?

 

It's fine if you have a website with on-line credit card facilities, but 2,000 people turning up on "office hours" with a handful of notes probably isn't going to work.

Yes, it's important the website has on-line credit card facilities sooner rather than later.

 

With view to selling merchandise more than anything else.

I'm of the 'sod Oxford, they're just like any other away team' group, by the way. Supply and demand though, let's charge 'em £30 each. Or two for £55.

30£ a ticket does indeed sound good. In fact why dont we just give them the 3 points (guarantees them the title) for a 100K fee. Everyones a winner.

Cambridge brought more than Aldershot. Make 1,000 tickets available for Oxford. Not sure where temporary segregation fencing could go, but even if we were to do that, it shouldn't be for more than 750 to 1,000. As has been pointed out, it is a HOME game after all.
