As you probably know, Helski, I was not at Oxford.

However, you appear to have mis-understood my comment which was not whether or not positives could be taken from the game itself. I wasn't there so I couldn't say whether positives or negatives could be taken [in the] first half or [in the] second half, or indeed, [in] both halves.

Rather, my comment was made regarding the use of the comment that positives could be taken. It was more a "use of language" observation, rather than a "football" comment.

I'm glad to hear that you don't do cliches, Helski. I am aware that you are not a chap.

Even if you win the other team is going to have a few chances but at the end of the day they didn't score, we kept a clean sheet so we will take positives from it."

So JKif, it isn't just games what we lose where we can "take the positives"!

Not only did we take the three points at Northwich, we can also "take the positives" of a super performance by the wing-backs, a clean sheet for the youngster between the sticks, a first goal in the yeller 'n' blue for Lee 'Lee' Flynn, and goals for the joint leading scorers, Dave 'Theo' Theobald and Paul 'Hackers' Hakim?

Hmmnnn. It doesn't trip off the tongue quite as well, however. The more I look at it, the more I think that one can only take the positives from a draw or a defeat. [That's not to say that one can only take the negatives from a win, of course. Different matter.]

We'll seee what Colin Lippiatt has to say in his matchday programme notes on Saturday.
