Cheers Teffers

We made very hard work of it, certainly not helped by a dodgy ref and linesman!

Never seen Dorking's pitch have so much grass on it! Mind you, it was still bobbly and pony!

agreed some strange decisions by the officials, we should have had taken something from the game but thought we played like a team with no confidence in the second half.

The problem as with many others is not getting enough water on the pitch and its too hard to roll at present but there is more green stuff than usual

I know I promised not to mention the match on here to a certain person. (I WOZ THERE !)

HOWEVER...............

The Pitch: It was cut, AND rolled between 7:00 and 9:30 Saturday morning. (Big Brian behind the bar can vouch for that).

The main problem is that the pitch is on true solid clay which is a real catch 22 situation. The Sahara in the summer and the Somme in the winter.

It IS nice to see the old grass popping through again, though !

you must know graham thornton then im sure he played then

Might do, it was a long time ago!

I had one season with them (I think it was 69/70) and played at old fashioned centre forward and scored a hatful of goals in what appeared to be a quite successful season. I remember personally us turning over Spelthorne Reserves in a county cup match 5-3 when I scored a hat-trick.

Barry Francis, with whom I was in touch with last year, was the captain but he has no records from around that time.

If anyone would like to PM me I will pass on my personal details.

Thanks for responding.
