One of seven remaining un-beaten but only five goals for

All very much of an anticlimax today after the performance on Monday. Took us about half hour to wake up. Then more or less dominated but couldn't make the most of the chances we created.

That's four points dropped against Folkestone & Carshalton that would have put us in 6th.

Lets hope we can pick it up for Ramsgate.

Not the best game in the World. For those you have to have, good clement weather, a good unfussy ref and a passionate performance by both sets of players...

As much as we can point fingers at players, the wind, together with a ref that refused to let play flow contibuted to a lacklustre game...Then again, I will concede the point that we had planty of chances to finish the game with all three points.

I must say, that ref did like his whistle...long, hard blows and lots of 'em...

Oh and didn't the moaning from the away bench get so much on everyone's t*ts!!!

I thought it was a very weak effort from us, particularly in the first half, probably the worst since Matt took over.

In the second half we were better but again spurned our chances to win the game. Apparently we have a coach who just looks after the forwards. Perhaps we could do some work on not being offside, hitting the target and heading the ball downwards.

On a positive note we again defended very well and Carshalton (who looked a really bad team to me) never ever looked liked scoring a goal.

We are still unbeaten which is good but it's clear that if we want to move higher up the table we desperately need someone who is capable of scoring regularly at this level.

Quite simply, dull. Never got going at any point in the match. Carshalton, just like Folkestone, came for a point and went away with one. It's never easy to break down sides who are so defensively minded and put all and sundry behind the ball, but if we want to make a major impact in this league, then we simply have to beat teams like this. Roll on Ramsgate.

The scoreline says it all really, we're defending well - particularly considering we were missing Billy and Darren, but not scoring enough. Thought we missed Dorms as somebody who can put his foot on the ball and knock passes around in midfield, and somebody who can run at players like Whelpdale would have made a difference in my opinion.

I see from my newly acquired copy of the Ryman Statistical Review 05/06 that Braintree had 7 points after 5 games last season...

The FA have written to all parties involved, (ie Chris and Maldon Town). They allow a set period (either 7 or 14 days) to respond, and apparently once that period is up then they will make a decison pretty quickly. To put it another way we may have a decision by this Saturday at the absolute earliest, more likely the week after.

I think that performance will remind every player that playing teams further down the league is no easier than playing teams around the top. The praise the players have had recently is totally justified, but to be fair they have to admit that they let themselves, their manager and us the fans down on Saturday. Having said that i felt a tad sorry for them as they trooped off ! Schucks, we love 'em really !!

Ok lads, you know we are 100% behind you (always will be), so go out there now on the pitch and play like you know you can. WE BELIEVE IN YOU !

Indeed, it's a marathon not a sprint. Win when you play well, don't get beat when you don't. Never forget, you've got many of the building blocks in place to do well: it's your ground and it's ready for promotion, no debt, stability off the pitch, etc. One bit of advice if I may - Patience one and all - it'll come!

Good luck.

Not a lesson young Gazza, just trying to offer a bit of help to those I regard as friends.

The football's better in the Conference South (you'd enjoy it), but I do miss the banter with our old Essex friends. It's not quite the same with people from Hampshire!
