Bromley v Slough Town

I agree with all of Boxall's points. The way to get G up front is to switch to three centre backs with Woody and Dell on the wings.

The only thing I would say is that whilst Bromley are a good team and I did go there expecting to get no more than a point at best there is no excuse for the silly mistakes and apparent lack of effort. I personally thought Mason was disgraceful yesterday the way he bottled challenges. If you don't want to win the ball you don't deserve to be on the pitch. I would rather see a player with less skill than Mason but more determination.

Given our midfield performances so far this season I am amazed that Mets was told he could leave.

You say that we have played four teams in the top 8 Mr S but we still have to play AFC, Hampton, Chelmsford, Billericay, Heybridge and Staines twice all of whom have been predicted to finish top ten. We should never have lost to Leyton and Horsham - they are the big problems.

true martin..its going to be a long hard campaign...we were aware of that from the start...A bromley offical told me..that they were paying 10,000 wages per week (mr goldberg) ...we will have not chance...against the big spenders...but we must start operating like a team..with some fight ....your right....

Turned up to catch the coach yesterday but missed it by a few minutes oh dam ???? thank goodness by the sound of it.

We need some tough players in midfield as Martin says like Mets even though not a fan or a new Wilko to do the messy and hard stuff in breaking up the opposition when in attacking positions.

After the injury Mason suffered last season it,s not suprising that he does not want to tackle so why is he in the team and Matty Glynn has done nothing of note so far.

Also shows how much the quality of Hodges is being missed, when the team or he was not playing well he was always likely to score to get us out of trouble we have not got that this season.

Chris, Fisher away last season? At home against them in the league cup? We can compete with the big spenders if the team (I use that term loosely) are willing to roll their sleeves up and all pull in the same direction.

If the supporters can't even do that, how the hell can the team?

The bottom line is that preparation & motivation starts with the management team and once the players are on the pitch if they are obviously not doing what the manager has asked of them then they are substituted and if that doesn't work they get rid.

I've always thought that the test of a good manager is that when are not working and you are losing you don't just sub like for like you try something different and change your formation.

I know we don't have many options but I think on Saturday once it was obvious that something drastic was needed, most supporters would have liked Eddie to at least have a go and put Daly on, get Dell and Woody to attack down the wings and put G up front.

Sounds obvious but why didn't that happen?

Also on the subject of pre match preparation I thought we had a new coach in the camp (Carl Marsh?) has anyone seen him take a pre-match/training session? has anyone noticed him or seen any difference he's made? Is he being paid?

Oh dear, how depressing reading this on a Monday Morning. We really should be pulling together as Gary said and certainly not attacking each other, football fans have to expect the good and the bad times I'm afraid. Critisism is ok, its just sometimes the way its done. As you know I dont think some of the things said at games helps the players at all and I certainly dont think that they go out there not wanting to play, remember all the teams we have played are in the top seven and therefore there a glimmer of hope (remember the harrow game). I think Charlie ought to ask the players she interviews how they feel when they hear some of the comments shouted at them through the game.

Anyway on a lighter note, Liam you are the most negative person I know and I am certainly not going to do as you politely said in an earier posting!!!!

It's also interesting to read that people won't vocally support the side as they don't think it makes a difference, yet will quickly criticise them in the hope it makes the difference.

As you all know, in my warped little ideal world, I'd love to have ninety minutes of support by a large majority of our fan base, be it behind the goal or down the side. If the players don't perform, abuse them at the end of the game, or in the bar afterwards. It's not going to help them during the match. Sadly at the moment, whilst we're not playing well, the atmosphere is pony at the matches (both home and away).

Putting G up front may improve things but it won't stop the Rot. You ain't gonna get the best out of him without a presence to hold up the ball. Him as a winger who has to defend all the f ing time is a WASTE!! and one wonders why he ain't doing it like last season! c'mon

I might be wrong but wasnt it at the same ground last year we were 2 nil down at half time and I think I had a litte moan then about not getting behind the team. In the second half, Emma, Lynn, Charlie and I tried some cheer leading, everyone joined in to drown us out if I remember rightly (even though we thought we had the voices of angels). Anyway we came back and won 3 2, not saying it was due to our singing that we won, but I to think it creates a better atmosphere and must lift the players a little bit.

Thing is, at this level of football, I go to the games as much as a social as watching the football. Cos if watching the football is bad at least I want to have a laugh in the bar/behind the goal. I know you can't compare but Man City, Brighton away fans, Portsmouth etc are always hailed as great supporters - teams 12th man.

We know the club is f***** at the moment, but it is still the club we support, so let's at least do that rather than vent our teenage angst.

Personally if someone criticised my performance as a footballer I would want to raise my game to prove them wrong. Let the football do the talking. So why shouldn't criticism work? Then again how many times have we screamed at them to take a shot and it goes ignored.

I don't think great support equals great results otherwise Portsmouth would always win the league. But I do believe that the tempo and style of play that their team produces goes hand in hand with the tempo and passion of their support.

The atmosphere needs to be good from the start and I don't really understand why it is that we no longer sing from the begining at the very least. I think it is because we have no natural leader there and I certainly don't want to do it. It is also very depressing when we do sing and get nothing in return.
