Team for today

A positive I'm seeing, so far this season, is the number of goals the team are producing.

We have scored a lot of goals already, even in games where we have lost (Aldershot) and drawn (Southport)

And at last, Luke Moore has found his scoring boots; which helps the goals add up that mostly seem to be coming from scoring machines Charlie Mac and DeBolla.

Take away Aldershot (4th) lost 2-3 and York (2nd) lost 0-1

In 4 games we have scored 10 and let in 4, 10 points from 12

Dont you think that Luke is fast becoming another "goal scoring machine"

What is it now Charlie 5 Mark 4 Luke 3

Who else is going to get on the scoresheet? I hope the 3 above dont get injured!!

Let's hope Sodje can be a sub scoring machine! (that's assuming he's on the bench for most of this season)

He has gotta start getting more then three minutes

Spot on, he must have been so frustrated yesterday when he started changing to come on at about 70-75 minutes, and eventually only got enough game time to get one touch on the ball. It's excellent to see that we've got competition for the two places upfront, and although we've only had three scorers this year, the goals are coming from open play, free kicks, and out on the wing!

Both of our forwards are scoring goals, we have scored twice in two away games and not managed to win either of them, Sodge doesn't need to come on earlier the defence needs tightening.
We are averaging two goals a game which is excellent but two goals should mean three points.

I think we did need Sodje on yesterday; we were 11 against 10, the long ball game wasn't working with Charlie and Luke, and if we were to continue it, we would have needed the pace and strength of Sodje to make chances from it.

I suppose its circumstances. But 70 minutes in we needed to try another option, charlie hadn't scored and our other efforts were about 4 debolla long rangers flying high in the wind and poor crosses due to the wind. Against ten men, a bit of sodges pace stretch them a little more? Another option was worth considering, but not with 3 minutes. he might as well not bothered...

The key phrase being 'if we were to continue it'.
Maybe I am being stupid here but why the hell would we want to continue using a long ball game that wasn't working. We have two good forwards who are both in goalscoring form and both play better with the ball at their feet also the windy conditions were going to mean any long ball played would be innaccurate at best. Playing against ten men should be all about retaining possession and making the opposition run around trying to close the ball down until you find the gaps not kick and hope.
Why not tell the players out there to stop playing long balls and if that doesn't work then change the players who are failing to provide the service rather than continue with a style of play that we aren't any good at and plays to the strengths of a ten man team.

I totally agree with you there Gordon. Sodje should have come on for 20-25mins b4 full time or not at all.

I feel we've dropped 2 points. Not won a point!!!
