Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano for the Hammers

Recommended Posts

Maybe I'm just a grumpy old git (Hence the avatar) but even though I'm a Hammer's fan, am I the only one thinking "Not more bloody foreigners coming into the English game, stifling our young English talent"?.... Even if they are brilliant!!!

Yeah thought so.

..and mark my word, they will all be running around like blue-arsed flies (until midnight) cow towing to the blood sucking agents, signing up players who just cannot hack it so as to be seen to be doing something positive.

For example £8m for N Anelka. Will eat my hat if he sees out his 4-year contract...

The world's greatest monopoly....as they know that you may change your wife, but not your football team (well apart from one or two I can mention).

Just think Smallsy, if it weren't for all these bleedin' Johnny foreigners in our game now you might have been playing in the premiership!!!!

Do you realise there are only 6 first choice English keepers in the premiership, and 2 of them are on loan from other clubs. i.e. Scott Carson (on loan to Charlton) and Ben Foster (On loan to Watford).

I read the other day that 15% of boys at our Academies and Centres of Excellences are from abroad. Even the non-league game is being invaded. Bowers have just signed a Pole who can't speak a word of English!!!

Kaiser, Coachie et al, Jeez have you guys missed the point or what???

This isn't some xenophobic rant and I am certainly not racist, as suggested by Coach with his mention of Hitler!! How could I be with two Irish parents???? What's more Coachipoos, I resent the implication. (I have experienced rascism first hand during the IRA pub bombing campaign in the 70s and let me tell you it was [****!!****] ugly)

I was refering to the lack of opportunities for English/British youngsters making their way in the game today. Yes of course the cream will always rise to the top but quite often English clubs buy from abroad because the English/British clubs demand too much for their players of a similar standard.

Who dosen't love watching the likes of Henry, Cantona, Bergkamp, Di Canio etc. But for everyone of those superstars there's 2 or 3 Marco Boogers, remember him? Coachie, are you telling me you don't get pleasure out of seeing a youngster that you once coached make it to pro level?

How often does that happen now compared with say 20 years ago. Yes the quality of the football is better today, but if that was all that was important, would we all be lovers of the non-league game? I suspect not.

My original post was meant to be tongue in cheek but it seems to have been twisted out of all proportion by people who frankly should know better.

If I've offended anyone all I can say with my hand on my heart is...........Grow up!!!
