looking at the photo's on a different thread you will get cold and wet in them seats and a dry stand behind you if it rains,

Please tell me you don't expect the seats to be right at the front of the stand with standing behind? I think people are only hearing what they want to hear. If there was room to stand behind the seats and you were allowed to stand there then you would miss part of if not all of the action.

Dave I heard some company offered to do the roof as well as the seats. Is this happening.

I think if it gets as cold, as a few games did last year, and the seats are out of the wind I will be there lol

The prevailaing wind at Fleet is from the South-West - which is almost straight into the Northfleet stand seats.
Only if the wind is Easterly, ie from Mainland Europe (in winter Bl**dy cold) will you find the shelter welcome.

i don't know how the stand will look when finished but 513 seats won't take up too much room in that stand have you seen any design harry if you have what is it like

For those of you who didn't understand David Holdens post earlier in this thread can I just point out that it doesn't matter whether there is room behind the seats or even at the side of the seats you can't stand there.

Thats what I was trying to get across to them but they don't seem to be listening. You may be able to stand where the seats are but it all depends if the stewards enforce standing.

There is an organisation called Stand up sit down that would like to see standing return to football. Not by ripping out the seats but by allowing people to stand in front of their seat.

If you read through the site posted above then you will see that many people get annoyed with not being able to stand up. Others get annoyed with people standing too much, allowing an area where people can go to stand up will clear up the problem.

The seats being put in for us are not enforced by anyone it is just the best option for all concerned. So if the club made it clear to the people that used this area to watch the game that, although the seats were in place this was a designated standing area then I don't see a problem with people standing there. We could contact Stand up sit down and tell them all about it. They could come down take photos and say to the FA "look people watching the entire game on their feet", then it would be a great PR stunt for both them and us.

Except of course that the Fire Brigade's safety officer (who has the power to close the ground completely) has ruled that that area is not safe for standing.

I can't see how fitting seats has altered that.

I have a feeling that your failure to see things from someone else's point of view (again) has completely given you the wrong idea (again).

Will you be able to stand behind the seats??? as working it out roughly the new seating area will be the approx same size as the main stand as it is now, if they keep to the same seats per row etc.to keep it uniformed. but I do expect to be corrected on this.

Remind me someone why are we installing seats?

Oh yes because it was cheaper than the repairs needed to make the terracing safe for standing.

No because the Kent fire Brigade told you to get it fixed, otherwise it would of stayed the same way for the next ten years,as it has in the past ten!!!!

As opposed to my feeling that you're being a complete twat (again)?

As Dave has reminded you:

The stand was closed as it was deemed NOT SAFE TO STAND THERE, albeit according to the Fire Safety Officer.

The club are putting in seats as it is cheaper than the cost of work required to make it safe to stand.

Therefore if the club are putting the seats in and not having the work required to allow standing done, it is pretty obvious that it will not be an area of the ground for standing in.

The link you posted on behalf of the stupid organisation regarding standing makes it's appear that you think otherwise, despite some of your other comments.

The stand isn't unsafe the, the ground in the stand is. The steps are all going to be covered in concrete so they are all of a level footing and are safe to walk along. They will be the same style as the steps in the Stonebridge Road side and the Swanscombe end.

If it were as simple as just putting in seats this alone would not make the situation better it would make it worse.

If you want to imagine how the end will look after it is completed imagine the Stonebridge Road side but with seats. The reason the seats are being put in is because the new steps will make it impossible for people to stand too far up, with the seats there it could be a suggestive area for people to watch the match.

Don't say "but if people stand in the back row then they won't it be impossible for people to watch?" as the seats are not going to all the way back.

It was in some sort of club press release or something but I can't find it.

I knew this would be too hard for you lot to understand so I prevented putting it on here put when I realised it was close to the stand reopening I thought I'd put it on here. Should have waited until the stand was open to get my point across.

That would mean no need for seats, would it not?

I knew Brian was in charge of the new ground. I read it in the programme of the last game last season. Who were West Ham playing that day?

In other news Darren, have you paid that £60 yet for your sponsor a goal last season? You was going to send the check over the summer wasn't you? Ever get round to it?
