vs Alty

Much the better team today against an average but not woeful Alty side.

Thought my MOM was possibly McCarthy. Any problems we had were dealt with quickly and efficiently by the back 3. Thought Macca should receive some personal praise for an excellent performance today!

All round good team performance though and some clinical excellent finishing from Luke and of course Charlie!!

Our next aim as a club is surely to re-address the crowd issue!? The covered end is being sorted, the team and management are showing some good signs, the crowd are all behind the team. We just now need to get the average gate back up to 1500!! tough to do i know as we have been trying - but this needs to be addressed by management and fans alike. The players deserve a wider audience.

Bring a friend and boost the crowd!

Up the fleet . . .

Yeh the crowd was disappointing, but a great game! Luke scoring goals in 2 consecutive matches! Didn't he only score 1 for the whole of last season? Improvement or what!

Well done to Keeling who must have been knackered by the time he came off, he was running around everywhere getting a lot of play and a lot of great play at that

With the crowd, i think there are two issues with it. One is obviously the financial side of things; if we want to consolidate as a top-half of the table side, or even mid-table, the gate should be around 1500. The other point is the atmosphere. Today, with a crowd of 900, the drum area was buzzing! I seriously think that the noise that the 20-30 lads round the drum made(including myself haha) carried the team, and where heads would have gone down on the pitch because it was 0-0 after 60 or so minutes, the players were encouraged by our enthusiasm. So the point there, is maybe, we need to think about who in particular we need to bring down to the Fleet. Obviously everyone is welcome, especially at a time like now, when we can really do with the extra support, but targeting an audience similar to the drum boys, males aged 15-35 or thereabouts, could do the team favours in terms of vocal support? Or am I talking b*ll*cks? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

..er....the usual boll*cks ! What happens when you get to 35 then ? Do you lose your voice ? ( not that you would know as you haven't reached there yet !!).

For what it's worth, when we all used to stand behind the goal at the Northfleet end, me & my mates were happy to join in the singing, and even start some of it !!....but stand at the side ? You're 'kin joking !

Regards,

Regarding the attendance issue, probably every regular supporter knows at least one other person who has in the past been to 'Fleet home games but for one reason or another no longer attends. May I suggest that anyone who knows someone who falls into this category tries to discover why they are no longer turning up. Then the reasons given could be recorded on a separate thread and passed on to the Club. I doubt that the Club have ever conducted such a survey before. It can only help to know why there are so many people who previously attended games but who no longer come.

Maybe the 18>35 year olds.could take there drums trumpets banners etc,and on the saturday of each home game, walk from the clock tower to the ground singing football songs (clean ones of course)while advertising the club.As your at it take a bucket or two and have a club collection on the way.

Oh here we go. Read the programme lately? We are being openly encouraged to bang the drum and sing by the management 'cause it motivates the players. Perhaps this is working, therefore we are playing better and hey presto fans come back. Btw how do Man U get crowds of 60,000 plus are they a swear free zone? I doubt it.

The attendances will get higher if we continue playing the way we are and winning games. Probably wrong but since being in the conference our best attendances came about the time of that unbeated run we had at the start of a season few years back (essandoh era). It helped that we'd had a brilliant end to the season before too. With good form, people will watch us, simple as.

Yes the sooner the Northfleet end of the ground is finished the better, if for no better reason then to get rid of the drummer

See, the idea of bringing the drum to the games, all started from the clubs point of view, not me personally. The club wanted a drum to get more atmosphere down the ground, so we got one and it works. The fans around me at the the home games so far this season have been brilliant, young or old and therefore, the drum will stay at GNFC....regardless of no Northfleet end or low crowds.

I agree, yes things will probably will be better when the Northfleet end is open but it isn't yet is it, so we don't have much choice on where the crowd can go.

We have played some teams this season that don't neccessary attract big gates, but when the likes of Oxford come to Stonebridge Road, you think of the atmosphere that day!!

So my point has beeen put across and I think some will hopefully agree with me, we keep the drum.
