Chelmsford 2-2 Billericay

Unfortunately I wasn't back from Soton in time to make the game, but thanks to JohnR for keeping me updated with incidents.

The team news was that Nathan had a knock (I assume a hangover from the ankle problem on Saturday) so Flack and Morgan played up front.

Apparently we went behind to a defelcted goal early on and it was 1-0 at ht. Early in the 2nd half we were 2-0 down and had Dorms go off with an injury, then lost Blewitt who was carried off.

Flack pulled a goal back then Hodges bagged the equaliser to make it 3 draws out of 4!

I think, given we lost 2 key players to injury, a point was not a bad result, and good to see a striker scoring...

Never has a draw tasted so sweet!

Chelmo 1-0 up at time, but no-one could have complained if we would have been winning. Morgan had 2 gilt edged chances in the first 45 which he couldn't take.

2nd half saw us go 2-0 down early doors, but that only bought on a brilliant last half hour where we bombarded Chelmo and eventually got a richly deserved equaliser through a Lee Hodges wonder goal.

It's very difficult to get enthused about going to Melbourne Park and I would hate to be there on a day when there is no away support. The home fans were silent for 90 minutes and any neutral in the ground would have been pleased to have heard the BTFC support which created the atmosphere.

Hodges goal was pure quality and with just a bit of luck we could well have won this game. As it was the draw felt like a win! Well done to the security guys at melbourne as well, first they searched my bag and found 2 bottles of water and made us open the bottles and give them the plastic lids as the lids proved a hazard!! Strange then that we went inside to find we could purchase water and other soft drinks with the lids still on!!! and then they tried to throw one of our supporters out because while trying to get to the stand behind the goal he went on to the track. They decided not to eject him after they saw how angry this made the other supporters. Strange Rules but a great day and a great performance from the lads for all of us from New Lodge!

Could somebody post a line-up (including used and un-used subs) please.. any details greatfully received for the purposes of sculpting the gretaest work of fiction known to man / match report <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

In response I will 'fess up to what it was that delayed my departure from Soton, which should give you all a bank holiday giggle. Can't say fairer than that...

An excellent comeback from us today and something that the lads should be proud of.

We were a bit unlucky to go in 1-0 down with their goal coming from a Paul Parkeresque type deflection over Billy. We missed some good chances but at least they were mostly on target with one goal line clearance and their keeper made some good saves.

Their second goal looked like a defensive mix-up and unfortunately it looks like Blewitt might have a bad injury. I hope he's ok although Swaine did well when he came on.

We never gave up tho and Joe tucked one away after a Nathan flick and then a great Hodges strike to get us level. They then resorted to diving all over the place to try and get a pen in the closing minutes although we had half a chance to nick it with a goal mouth scramble at the end.

Chelmsford are obviously a decent side and this result should give uslots of confidence going into the next games

McMahon

Macca Heffer Blewitt (Swaine) Kerrers

Game Hunter Ryan Dormer (Hodges)

Morgan (Elder) Flack

not sure who the unused subs were as as per the PA was wholly inadequate

A superb show of character and team spirit today, which will send us in to this Saturdays game with the right attitude to win.

Well done to all the players.... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

It was a knee injury (right) and he looked in quite some discomfort. Hopefully it's just a minor tweek and not his ligaments he has damaged as they can take a deceptively long time to mend...if at all in some cases. I wish him the best, it's not a nice injury.

Good evening David,

The words you require are these..

You fill up my senses,
Like a full pint of Stella,
Like a night out in Ricay,
Like a day at New Lodge.

Where-ever we trav-el,
We think Bill-er-ricay,
My Bill-er-ricay Town,
Come fill me again !!

And the birth of the second anthem will be making a airing this season too ! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Good game today from two teams who should finish in the top 5. A draw was a fair result although it does feel like a defeat when you are 2 up at home and dont win.

Good luck for the rest of the season, see you all on the 30th December.
