what urchin seem to be missing is that we probably have lost most of the fans we are going to. all the people who turn up now are the loyal Canvey fans. when we dropped from the conference all the glory hunters went but may turn up for a team they recognise. for teams like that there will be more Canvey fans alone than there were for Flakwell so the amount of away fans is irrelevant. Obviously both of our teams will see a bit of a drop when the weather turns bad

I reckon there were some who came over first day out of loyalty but some may not come back until you start winning again

Will you just give it a rest. For all we know we might finish bottom and be relegated and then next season we might be lucky to get 300 at home. This league and indeed, our own team and fanbase, is and are a completely unknown quantity.

didn't indicate that either,but the further behind you fall will mean some people will go elsewhere or not bother turning up at all,its not rocket science,success on the pitch usually means success through the turnstiles

defeat on the pitch usually means less people through the turnstiles!!

im not sure if away form really effects home attendances at all, a downward form at home may, but not to many as most fans at the lane have excepted the drop in level from last season.

Well obviously, but we've only lost one. Anyway, the one match we won, we did 4-0 and it was at home. Winning at home is the most important thing, because people will come if they think they will see us win.

if you are 15 points behind the top three or four after a few weeks then people will automatically stay away,people dont want to pay £8-9 quid at this level to watch a losing team,thats football i am afraid!!!

Stop stating the obvious. We might win every game from now until Christmas, but there's no point speculating on that. We're three games in, so judging the way our season may go is extremely silly.

But surely if you got promotion this season then the crowds would get bigger as you have potential big derbies in the ryman prem with more away fans,the only games this season where you will have away fans numbering more than 30 will be against us,sudbury,enfield and maybe a couple of others.If you don't go up then i would expect the same story next year

And what about if you don't go up? We're not in crisis, so I don't see why all this applies to us, but doesn't to you? Hornchurch are in exactly the same boat as us.

You are right in that success brings in fans - Look at Grays!!! However, I don't think attendances at home will drop dramatically from the 400+ we've gained already. Obviously each week certain fans may not be able to make a game for whatever reason, but there will be many teams in this league that bring more fans than Flackwell did and no matter, which team they support that money goes into the coffers at Park Lane.

Like Glen has said, we've budgeted for 300 fans, I highly doubt that, that takes into consideration ANY away fans so Hornchurch, Sudbury, Tilbury, Maldon etc. could bring 50 fans or 500 fans, all that money is bonus as long as there are 300 Canvey fans and currently I think there almost certainly will be! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

the drop in attendance is more related to the style of fan, im assuming urchin that your attendance wouldn’t stop if the drop in form for Hornchurch happened. like the Canvey fans on hear, im assuming you attend for more than the football, but the comradery and atmosphere. now if have a large number of this style fan then irrelevant of results of league standing they will be there. now when Canvey dropped 3 leagues 90% of the fans that stayed are this type of fan. now an opening day home fixture obviously brought a certain amount of fans as will a winning run. but the initial core of fans wont really fluxuate.
