Penalties

The penalty miss against ATFC could have been costly although it was a good save to prevent the goal. We seem to struggle with pens and have done for a while. I would suggest that not since Martin Duffield have we had a consistent penalty taker.

 

Scot Oakes strikes the ball well, perhaps he should have a go at the pens.

 

The best penalty taker I can recall for City was Ian Whitehead who I cannot remember him missing one. Any other views?

Tut tut, webbo old mate, you should know The Great Man scored 18 and missed 6, a success rate of 75%.

 

Lee Gledhill is a good clean striker of the football, why not give him a try as well, preferably when we're 6-0 up.

This has been a problem for some time and needs to be sorted out. I would go for either Crawshaw or Oakes.

'Spooner' missed two penalties in fairly quick succession in the second half against Hampton away. The first barely reached the keeper and the second ended up on the railway line.

I know we're not allowed on the pitch during training but just for once why don't we let the squad on to take pens. if everyone in the squad takes 5 each the most successful taker becomes the new taker, lets face it, it won't do any harm!

 

Not sure about any of the strikers taking them, they have too long to think, centre backs will always hoof them over the bar. I'll go for Scott Oakes or maybe one of the full backs - Naylor or Gledhill.

Dunno if this is simplistic or what, but if we have to allow for absences due to injury or suspension plus of course the dreaded penalty shoot out. Should not the whole squad practice occaisonally ?
