BT had failed to connect the ISDN lines we normally use for transmissions when they went to Forest Green's shiny new stadium on Friday leaving both BBC Radio Kent(i.e.me) and BBC Radio Gloucestershire without the facilities we would normally use. I had checked with FGR on Friday and knew there would be a problem and took an alternative kit called a Matrix which works from an internal mobile phone unit thus the possible difference from the usual quality. On ther other hand I could be talking absolute tosh - as usual - and the change of kit may have had notyhing to do with quality only my poor use of it. When in doubt, it's usually user error. Still the boys did great and congratulations to Luke on his first goal of the season.

Chas , you will be pleased to know that the ISDN was working splendidly at Haig Avenue last saturday - which couldnt be said exactly about Southport- although they were much better at Burton yesterday - and if can get Conf TV- look out for Goal of the season by the Southport captain to win that game .

Look forward to seeing you on sat- remember to set your alarm clock nice and early - and if i remember i will get a scouse pie from our local bakers as a lunch time treat for you- what a culinary delight awaits you...................................

Dear Viewers

This means that Phil K - the great Phil Kinsella(proper broadcaster) will be doing the live commentary from Southport on Saturday - kick off 1p.m.(Thanks FA for sweet FA). I will therefore be putting my feet up and educating the bard of Knotty Ash about how great our 2006/2007 team are. It will be nhis first sighting of the lads this season and it will be interesting to have his clinical assesment.

I will be travelling north with four other souls on Friday and as long as we get out of the tattor parlours, piercing salons and bordellos of Blackpool by 12 noon on Saturday we are looking forward to the match.

CW

you are aware that FRIDAY sees the switch on of the Blackpool illuminations - it will be much worse than usual ( if thats possible) in Blackpool- what with all the coach parties, stag and hen nights- need i go on

youre very welcome to join me at the JJB to see Wigan v Bradford in Superleague- game finishes at 9.45 . Blackpool is 45 minutes from JJB so plenty of time for late night stroll along the golden mile(sic) - and yes they do serve the press with pies before the game at Wigan made by Mr Whelans very own company .

"................coach parties, stag and hen nights"....Rock on! Our ETA, via Air Chas, is not until about 7.30.p.m. so we would miss the start of the action at the JJB. You must remember that the remainder of my travelling party are elderly, incontinent and very conservative so even a trip to Yates's Wine Lodge will be something of a culture shock. They have never been to Blackpool so anything could happen when the whiff of fried onions and urine wafts up their hooters on the Golden Mile. Bring me a pie to Southport on Saturday - beef and onion please.
