Best games

It wasn't a match to remember but in terms of occasion I hold the Birmingham FA Cup match in high regard. Given I wasn't born to see the match at Wembley, seeing a Slough team play in an arena like St Andrews was pretty special, even if we lost 4-0.

 

For matches, the Stevenage and Walsall games as mentioned hold great memories

Slough 1 Merthyr 0 (I think) at Wexham about fifteen or sixteen years ago, on a freezing Boxing Day. Crap game but I talked to Tommy Hutchinson, who'd scored at both ends in a cup final at Wembley. And there he was at Wexham in the snow.

 

For sheer football, Slough 1 Lewes 0 in our first season at Fortress Stag.

 

And the Walsall game of course - if only for the look on Paul Merson's face as he walked off.

Hotspur...reference any relation to Bobby Elderfield..not that i know of..however the Eldefields are a true Berkshire family..pretty small..apparently in the doomsday book as the queens woodchoppers!!..now theres a claim to fame..

 

Keep the games and players coming this is a great thread..ummh shame about margate game..oh well bring o Horsham..

There were a lot of good games under David Kemp, i enjoyed the whole season....

Cardiff v Slough FA Cup First Round Replay was another cracking game, which we ultimately lost. We matched them for long periods and that team was pretty special. With Lloyd, Terry Angus et al. Depressing to compare the fortunes of the two clubs over the last 8 years.
