Best games

As my love affair with the Rebels started in 1985 as 6 year old I was looking back at memories of great games. This website has actually reunited me with one of my old buddies this week.

These great games to me include Bromley away winning the league as an 11 year old boy getting squashed when Neal Stanley scored. The 3-3 fa cup draw with Reading was another one along with beating Woking away 2-1 (Andy Sayer 2)

Anyone got any memories like this?

I have to confess the last Rebel game I watched was at Wexham Park against Woking. Thats a bad effort.

But I up in Windsor on Monday so may pop into see some old faces

Got to be watching John Richie easily the best striker outside league football-we only had him a year before Arsenal took him away. And of course Terry Reardon-no non league player possessed more skill with a football.Happy Days !!!

Good call Gary - classic moment from a legend added to by the brilliance of the behind the goal comments.

My greatest ever match was the next round against Walsall - in hindsight a poor game - but the sheer scale of the victory and the euphoria makes it my favourite. I had face ache for a day after smiling so much.

Honourable mention Southport 2nd leg FA Trophy Semi Final. A hugely disappointing result in which I feel we were robbed by a terrible decision but when Bailey scored I was convinced we would win and it was very much an us against them atmosphere.

Stevenage in the Quarter Finals of that same Trophy run always sticks in my mind. At a time when I always stood down the side, we were all forced behind one goal and the atmosphere was amazing. When Bolt scored it was an unbelieveable feeling, but when Wilkerson saved the penalty it was even better. In terms of performance AND result that was my favourite.

Have to say that the Southport away game in the semi 2nd leg, although disappointing will always stick in my mind... the long drive and everything about it was just memorable. That Slough side was great.

Beating Sutton United for the first time ever at Gander Green Lane on a thursday night in the 80's to win the Isthmian League Title with Eggie James coming on late in the second half to score the winner the atmosphere at the end was superb.

Also the 2 games against the Daggers in 1971 in the semi finals of the Amateur cup played at the Valley when the ground had gates of 70,000.

The replay was at Craven Cottage on the same day as the Boat Race, both games were thrilling from start to finish with the REBELS just losing out.

Hi all..

I started supporting Slough at the Dolphin Stadium as a boy back in the mid 70's..have followed them ever since..even though I now live in Sydney Australia..it has been wonderful to see the event of the internet and allow us far off supporters to really get close to the team again..over the years i have been back in Slough and have witnessed many games..heres a few that stand out..

V Wycombe about 1974..wrexham park..we were 3-0 down..came back to win 4-3..

V Whitley Bay..amateur cup..circa..1978..made the long road journey up to Newcastle..we went up 2-0 against one of the then big guns of non league football..only to loose 3-2..I will just never forget the heartbreak of the trip home..

V Stevenage..fa trophy Q/F..was back in England and at the game..wonderful game we won 1-0 and saved a penalty..

Mnay others..great subject line..keep them coming...

Also remenber some great players of the past..Terry Reardon..John Delaney..Roger Connell..Roy Sleap..Eric Young (Think he went on to play for Wales?)...David kemp...

Thanks guys..go the rebels..John Elderfield Sydney Australia..wish I could be at Margate on Saturday..!!!
