A draw a fair result I thought. Both teams could have nicked it though on balance with the clear cut chances we should have prevailed. Some good goalkeeping as mentioned eleswhere. The one error that lead to the goal was a miscalculation of a bouncing ball by Trotty,Donovan was behind him but failed to come across & cover.Only when the opposing player ran with the ball did Donovan move toward him.Pass laid to far post where striker had easy tap in with no others around. Donovan extremely poor tonight.Always wrong side of his man & woefully lacking in pace, also as mentioned eleswhere.I agree that should Trotty not be around we are woefully short in that area.Lack of pace is obvious & positioning sometimes was not of the best in central defence by some.

We were very unlucky not to have scored more than the one & their finishing prior to their goal wasnt up to much either tonight. However they are a decent side & they did run at us & they will take points of other teams.A different proposition to Worthing i.m.o. A much better all round side & they impressed me tonight.

Again we dropped off the pace in the second half & again we payed for it.However at times we did still play the ball around well.

E.Thurrock were always threatening to score & no surprise when they did.

Pinnock took his goal well with a delicate & well timed lob over the keeper.

A definate sending off offence with Hockton bearing down on goal was professionally brought down.Terrible decision to give a yellow & not a red. He was last man & he prevented us from re-taking the lead, not possibly but more than likely.

Not the end of the world,a draw, but dissapointing not to have held on or indeed to have increased our advantage. The last 10 minutes we saw a step up again in pace but alas we couldnt prevail.A second was always the winning key prior to the equaliser, alas it didnt come.Again I thought Pinnock came out on top on performance levels.

Good Crowd,702(02)nothing changes there! l.o.l.

We made them look better than they were on Saturday as I said previously,& to me they will struggle, also mentioned before. How some thought that they were decent on saturday have seen that they suckered into believing that by our failure to maintain those gears. It was misleading & despite two heavy defeatS & not because of them I would back them to be down near the bottom of the table come end of season.

East Thurrock were more compact & much more dangerous, judging them both, but again we made another side look better than they are tonight but at least with tonights opponents they did, to their credit, give us more headaches than Worthing did.

I'll go along with that Alex. If they sort their defence out maybe they will improve. However East Thurrock still caused more problems than Worthing did up front despite the 2 goals on Saturday.

3 goals have been conceded in our first two games & both could have been avoided as they were all bad defensive errors. But no defence is perfect all the time.

Fair summing up Cookie. I guess with the starting 11 we have and saturdays result my expectations were high so it was certainly a bit of an anti climax. We had pockets of possession in both halves where we put sustained pressure on whipping crosses in but overall our passing was poor and there were too many long balls. OK the goal originated from one of them thanks to Pinnocks pace (my MoM too, never stopped working)but I lost count of the number of times he was beaten to the header by a taller defender. We needed to play the ball on the deck more, we certainly have the quality in midfield to be able to play more of a passing game but I guess they just had an off night. Agree Donovan still off the pace - would like to see Luke Williams given a chance as thought he impressed there in several friendlies and has more pace than JD. Noticed Brayley was there but not even on the bench which seems a criminal waste of talent. If the club are still paying him he should be playing for the first team not the reserves. Could well have changed the outcome with him as an outlet as substitute. Also see Mr unreliable Manny O conspicuous by his absence again.

As others have said I think we need to bring in a central defender with a bit of pace if we want to get out of this league. We will score goals but we are putting our strikers under a lot of pressure if we keep shipping them. Hopefully there is still some budget spare or one or two non-contract players that Trotty could ship out to bring this defender in should he find the right man. Feel this is key to our chances this season.

Jimmy Jackson and Pinnock were both a class above. Good football at times but also some slack passing. Disappointing to see the long ball used sometimes but we were put under a lot of pressure. East Thurrock will do ok this year so it's not an awful result. On balance it was fair and four points from the first two games suits me fine. Shame we couldnt have taken one more of our numerous chances but onwards to Saturday. See Slough won last night so it will be another tough one.

Maybe we can keep our feet on the ground now and really get behind the team this Saturday. We're not invincible and the team need the support.

I agree that we could have performed better. I got the impression they managed to rattle us pretty effectively in the 2nd half.

But I cant recall the last time we had a +3 goal difference, let alone make such a good start to the season, we are after all 4th in the league.

I have no doubt RT is going to be taking this match to the drawingboard & hopefully the team will learn & improve.

I'm about to post the interview with Mike F. He didn't seem to flustered. There's some interesting stuff here so look out for the interview ....

Agree about the defender and agree with GW that we will score goals. Going forward didn't seem a problem but we did seem exposed at the back by a pretty average ET attack. Couldn't help thinking Keister just in front of the defence would have sorted this. Abbott didn't impress me in what was a pretty poor team performance imo-not helped by an effing joke of a ref.
