Terras' chief warns over backing

Weymouth chairman Martyn Harrison has warned he may pull the plug on his financial backing for the club unless crowds improve.

Weymouth pulled in 1,766 for Saturday's win over Cambridge, 1,800 less than the previous home game against Aldershot.

Hotelier Harrison told the Dorset Echo: "A crowd of 1,700 when we're top of the table is disgraceful.

"If the town can't be bothered I don't see why I should, and they'll have to find somebody else to pay the wages."

weymouth???

>>>>>

we touched on the lack of money in weymouth over the last few days ....

now I see from the echo that a new 'Cash Generator' store is opening in Weymouth in the old Austins store in October (Austins closes in a few weeks). Prime town centre location and what do we get ?? a glorified pawn brokers !!! add that onto last weeks opening of a 99p store in another prime site and what have we got ..

a town centre that is going downhill very very fast !! Poor shopping, mess, chewing gum, chavs and absolutely nothing going for it. personally I hate going into town except for a pint with the mrs or mates. The harbours still ok but the rest is shocking.

I don't think the Muff recovered from our visit on Bank Holiday Monday when we took thrre or four thousand to the Wessex Stadium out of a crowd of 5200 or whatever it was. They thought that they might get crowds of over 5000 forever as a result.

It's that 'long-ball' game much favoured by Garry Hill. Oh, yes. And it was only Cambridge United, after all. Good job it wasn't a midweek game when the tide was out. They would have struggled to get into four figures.

Nice people down there, though. That Matty chap is all right.

Great, thanks Laz. Came close to finding the perfect wave off Fistral Beach, but still looking. I have been recommended to watch the movie "Endless Summer" or something similar.

I chose 'Pinchy' the Lobster from the tank last Tuesday night and asked for a swift and relatively painless end to his/her life before a warm bath for 25 minutes and then served with a little salad on the side. It doesn't get much better than that. Eat your heart out Gordon Ramsey.

As for the Mighty Saints, I can't leave you chaps alone for a minute without the wheels falling off. How many points are needed before we are safe? How's the clubhouse? Is Vickie Baxter back? Is it really £3.75 a pint for home fans or is that just for visiting fans? Are they allowed in? How is the programme this season? Is HM managing without the able assistance of the chap who gets £50,000 a year for taking the team-sheet from the manager to the referee 1 hour before kick-off? What's Dave Theobald's favourite food, holiday destination and music on the CD player in the club Ferrari?

See you on Monday.

That reminds me of an episode of 'The Simpsons'.

Yep. The episode where Homer is going to eat this Lobster and ends up taking it home as a pet. Think the Lobster was called Pinchy.

Just reminded me of that episode.

Anyway back to Weymouth.

That's the one where Pinchy gets muddy after his morning walk with Homer who decides to clean him/her up with a hot bath, Yellow. The water was boiling and that was the end of Pinchy. Or just the beginning in my case. I don't remember whether Homer ate the thing or not but then you're only allowed three questions when granted an audience with the owner of Quickie Mart. [Now that was a great episode!]

Go away, Yellow!

AFF, all is well at the Saints.

Ms Baxter is enjoying a sizeable redundancy payment (which of course she is entitled too).

The new barstaff are doing a good job and just to keep us on our toes the shut the bar at random times without telling anyone.

I have no idea how much the drinks cost in there. The more they cost the less competition at the bar there will be when it comes to being served.

The blue paint on the stand is mellowing.

Crowds are up and the football has been great!

See you on Saturday!

The Ms Baxter business stinks.

If her services were no longer needed behind the bar, the club should a) have had the decency to tell her, and B) should have made her redundant which, given that she's worked there for five years, would have been enough to pretty much fund her recent holiday to Mexico.

In addition, if the club had made her redundant, they would not be allowed to give anyone her job for six months. And as we all know, her role has been replaced.

I've encouraged her to look into legal action against the club but, sadly, I don't think she can be bothered with the hassle.

I agree, mate, my comments above were sarcastic and were made purely to raise the issue and to make those responsible realise that they have acted badly.

Give my best wishes to Ms Baxter when you see her! She'll be sadly missed.

Sounds a bit like the Kitman business at the start of the Cookie and Roberts 'reign...'
