Monday Nights

Recommended Posts

I'll keep this off the prediction thread.

We play on a Monday because everyone else plays on a Tuesday so about 20 years ago we switched and we rewarded with some big crowds when we were in the Isthmian. One Monday night we played Aldershot and had a crowd of about 750. With little or no other football in the country it was probably the highest crowd anywhere that night.

Monday night Sky football affected the crowds a little but the drop in status affected us more although we still get decent crowds (more than three figures) on a midweek night. Unfortunately Wealdstone are I beleive playing their midweeks on Monday's this season which might have some affect

I bet there was a large number of Aldershot fans there that night though. Did you get three figure crowds last season?, if so I can see the reason the club stuck with it.

I wonder if the players dislike Monday night games, it cant give them much time to get fit after a game on Saturday.

Our guys are used to it...opposition often complain. Gorleston wren't too happy a few years ago as they wutomatically assumed any F.A Vase replay would be on a Tuesday so claimed they couldn't get a side out for a Monday. Mind you credit it to them as they won.

Kingsbury also moaned about it for a Charity Cup tie

I know we got over three figures v Oxford in PDC semi Final and we may have reached it for a couple of others.

Yes there were a lot of Aldershot that night but we got crowds of 300 plus v Met Police and Leatherhead in Isthmian Two
