Bertie was reported to have turned up to play for Trotty today or yesterday but was told he was to play in the reserves.Bearing in mind his iminent call up to that World Cup team I am not sure as to the truth in this but the fact that he came back is a good omen,if true. If he did play for them today, keeps his head, not be too greedy with wages & changes his attitude I think he would still be a major asset to this club on the field. We shall have to wait see about this one.

I know someone will correct me if I am wrong but Bertie got a 3 match ban at the end of last season and we only played 2 games. Therefore, he still had 1 game to go so he could not have played today anyway.

[color:"blue"]At Leyton last season I spoke to Bertie and he came across as a genuinely nice bloke. He said he was looking forward to returning to play on the left wing, as thats his preferable position. Although he was suspended he was 'mucking in' with the pre-match warm-up and even cleared up the equipment. When Sesay was dismissed he went to the changing room to console him. He certainly didn't come across as a prima-donna. From my short conversation with him he seemed to be a man who just wanted to play football.

Trotty laid down his cards at the beginning of his reign stating that he'd expect first teamers to get some match fitness with the Reserves, so there's no inconsistancy there.

I'd say people are trying to read to much into the situation.

Agree with you on the defender Alex. Without Trotty we are left really short in that area. Not too sure our other two centre backs are enough to compensate, either alongside Trotty or playing together without Trotty.

I have always liked Bertie & hope he sorts out his differences with the boss & stays on to help this good set of players this term.In amongst this lot he would do well I.m sure.We still have that World Cup of his to take into consideration though. This will surely affect him turning out for us will it not?
