Northfleet End

When - o - when is work going to start at the Northfleet End of the ground? Its taking longer to get it sorted out than the infamous hole in the Stonebridge Road side stand roof!!!

 

The delay in getting it re-opened, in whatever format it ultimately takes, is dragging on far too long and quite frankly looks appalling.

 

We all know the ground has seen better days, but do we really have to make it still worse?

they wont fix it... they will drag it out untill we move in about 10 years time, by which time the magical grant will have been spent and the people who gave it out in the first place will have forgotten we got it! lol

Another promised start date ('early August') has now passed.

 

One can understand why the Club would want to reassure fans that the work is going to get underway, but it's not hard to feel that offering up fairly specific dates for the commencement of work which then are not met may in fact increase fans' frustration more than providing no dates whatsoever would.

Taking tentative steps towards steadying our now full-time club is difficult enough without insulting the fans' faith in the team by lying to them about when the work on the ground will take place.

I see there was another reference in the programme yesterday from our vice chairman "Victor (Gladwish), there will soon be the new Northfleet stand to name once the seating is in place"- one just wonders at his definition of the word "soon"!

The work has been dragged out far too long and should of been completed before the season kicked off. With some nice new seats at that end, it would give the ground much more appeal and a professional look, even though no-one would sit there!

The club could not place the order until the funding had been approved in regards to costs and suppliers. That approval was received 25th July & the club promptly advised the supplier of the seating and placed the order and paid the required deposit.

 

The club cannot have the work done until the order has been delivered.

 

Not difficult concepts to understand.

I heard that the club had been pledged the grant money but would not receive it until full plans were laid down which the Football Foundation agreed with. The plans laid down by the club did not meet expectations and had to be re-worked. Hence the delay.

My understanding wa sthat Arsenal wanted to sell seats to fans . They were stopped becuase the seats contained something hazardous to health.

 

Several lower league london clubs asked for seats after this decision , but were told the same.

I thought best not to mention that. My Arsenal contact was very pissed off with Green Peace "sticking their ore in". As I believe it The Arsenal were very unhappy about it and tried to fight it.

I think Bernard's version is very plausible. So, what is your version of the the "truth", and what evidence do you have that it isn't correct. In short what on earth have the Club been doing in the past few months then? Dates given and then expire. Sounds like delay to me.
