First 60 minutes. There was little width, No backbone in midfield, we were poor at the back and we didnt look like scoring. To me that says we were rubbish. When Jamie Mackey came on things changed instantly. Suddenly more urgency and we pushed forward. Gave me a reason to be optimistic.

Cant for the life of me work out why we tried Lee Smith as a left wing back (well i think that's where he was playing).

Not Lee's position by any means.

Because Lee Smith will try his best, no matter where he is asked to play?

Didn't it say in the paper that the prefered player for the left back position was unavailable for Saturday's game and in which case Lee was the best emergency option with his desire and commitment to the club?

Jim wanted to play with wing backs.Magona is no wingback.

I also don't believe you can pick an 'virgin' reserve/youth team player, of unknown quality, for an important opening fixture like that.If magona had moved. Then someone would have had to play in an unfamilar centre back role.Six of one/half a dozen of the other.

Maybe Jim should have reverted to a flat back four instead.

smithy left back! has he got a left foot.lol

I do hope so. You cannot play a right footed player at left back can you. After all, look how poor Steve Baldwin was in that position for us two years ago!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/whistling.gif" alt="" />

Which was exactly the point of my last post. You have to pick a team from the players available. If you havent got a wingback dont play a formation that includes one.

Why did he not play Magona at left back and have Purcell next to Gant ? Then have Smithy as a forward option.

And...what has happened to Stevens ?
