Bryan had a decent game,no question.I would give him 7 out of ten.I would also give several other player 7 out of ten on the day.Mackey i gave 8 out of ten.

PS..Steph.Did your mum agree with you about Bryan being Man of the match?? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Steph,

The game is all about opinions.

You have yours and I have mine.

I think your view of Bryne is seen thro' rose tinted glasses, but let's see how the next few weeks go.

As I said he did hit a good goal for sure.

I did not see it as you did from my "side" position.

Don't paint everyone with the same brush.

Cheers.

ps.

I did not mentioned anyone as M.O.M.

If I were to offer someone, it would be Tinkner who I thought had a good game, even though he upset the Church lot.

Of course she didn't but then she has only just realised that football is a game between 22 players on two different sides. She did start to go quiet in the second half when I was pointing out to her what Bryan was doing.

Oh go on give him 7.5 (if only for the superbly taken goal) and then he would be your mom after all you cannot really give MOM to a person who plays for 30 mins. NLF actually makes the point that in the first half the forwards were not receiving the ball from the midfield. So how can a midfield player get 7?

I liked the way that there was some heading ability in the side at last.

Good points well made Steph, I will study a few of them over the next few games, cant do it from the side though, as a young lad my Dad use to stand on the grass bank in front of the turnstiles (before the terracing was built) at Southbury Road, I use to plead with him to go behind the goal where it seemed much more fun but he use to say you got a better view on the 18 yard line & who wants to stand with those nutters behind the goal anyway!!!

I thought Campbell was having a good game and was starting to get forward more when.....he got subbed!!

......I thought JJ was commanding his defence well but the second goal didn't help matters.

That penalty started well up field with a very poor pass from someone in a Town shirt, however as JJ launched himself "Stuart Snowdon like" at the ball...... and missed but got the player I was expecting a red card.

I watched the second half behind JJ's goal, and I don't think he was commanding at all. He looked OK, and not comfortable or confident with the defenders around him.

The pen ws not his fault, No 5 (Tinkner?) should have cleared, but as he failed to it fell to JJ to sort it, and we know what happened next

JJ looks great at taking awkward balls hit straight at him,but as you say, not commanding and doesn't look like stopping many high shots (or headers) directed into the corners.

Still not convinced about Hunt in centre midfield yet.

For me, Nyman and Makcey deserve to start on Tuesday.

Tickner looks solid, strong and good in the air,but you get the feeling he will always give the opposition a chance or two.

Steph, did Black come on as sub? I thought he started at No8 ??

Also how can you say a player coming on for 30 minutes can't be named man of the match? Say we were 0-2 down in a cup final with half hour to go.We introduce a sub.He not only scores a hat-trick of exceptional quality. He also produces two goal line clearances and a goal-saving last ditch tackle to deny the oppo an injury time equaliser.Would he not be a contender of MOM?

Black was my mistake in typing I meant Mackey.

Ok I give you your extreme example as a possible contender but that didn't happen in this game did it?

When Mackey came on he replaced a player who was clearly out of sorts and the game would have to improve from that substitution. But I agree he had an excellent 30 minutes. I maintain that Hammet had the most influence on the team and the game throughout the 90 minutes but I accept that he was a passenger for perhaps the last 10 minutes as his injury got worse. Go on give him 7.25. Admit at least he was the best that stayed on the pitch for the full game.

Agree with your comments about Hunt. Did Nyman do enough for a start?

I have my own views about Black's game which I will keep to myself for now. Suffice to say that if Nyman started in place of Black I would understand the decision - not saying I agree with it though.

BTW My view was that JJ saved from under the bar on at least two occassions surrounded by players.

Gazza - I agree I thought that JJ would receive a Red.

There was the early free kick when Hornchurch kicked into the wind. Everyone in the ground knew it would go to far post and it did when the Hornchurch attackers got to it and headed it in JJ looked very confident then. I understand though you might not have seen it ST as you were at the far end.

As far standing at the side - the only things that get in the way of your view are the subs and the lino in one half. After you have ribbed the lino once or twice he seems to steer clear of you. As for subs you can also wind them up. If you are behind the goal there are other fans often in your site line. The best view as far as play is concerned would be directly behind the goal but the goalie gets in the way as well as the net and posts. It is more difficult to gauge perspective as well. Similarly at the side it often looks as though a goal has been scored when it is well wide. Also it is difficult to see action on the far side.

from my view behind the goal, I thought we were lackign urgency. Deano definitely needs to start at Wabbey, he really got involved when he came on. Smithjy didn't look happy, was he playing left back? the disappointment for me is that the game was a six pointer against a team who are going to be challenging for the title, and we never really looke dlike winning

I make no secret about loving to stand behind the goal, the banter, singin, etc is what football has been about for me for 30 years, but every so often, you have to watch a game from the half way line to really see what is going on.

How many people with SKY, switch the camera view for the whole game to behind the goal? Few. 'cos you want to see what is going on across the pitch.

This is what makes football such a great spectator sport, we can all be at the same game and all see it totally differently. Fun hey.
