Plus points:

* nice grass

* the defence weren't too bad

* Glynn's precision withe the dead ball

Biggest minus (apart from the lack of any midfield presence):

* the fact that the three players with genuine talent (Alexis, McCleary and Glynn) didn't display any of it - and the manager didn't do anything to help.

How can someone with no experience at this level gain any if he never gets put on??? We played reasonably in the first half, but after an hour we were a goal down and the team appeared to be half asleep. Anyone who knows diddly squat about football could have told you that fresh legs were needed. I actually suggested bringing Bartley on as at least then we could have released G, but the main point is that with 15 minutes to go we should have had 2 if not 3 of our subs on, not be waiting for the first to be made. On the point about the atmosphere, yes I agree we are more reactive than proactive, but at least we are ACTIVE!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Actually thought Lovers was poor today and am sure he will drop out for Jarvo on Tuesday. Dell will also come in but I'm not sure for who, I would guess at Mason (probably) or Alexis (unlikely, but he won't drop Glynn so ...) but personally after today, I'd say Wallace and put G up front with Annie (are you ok?).

Bloody hell, I almost agree with everything radders says.....must stop that!

Again we change nothing(apart from the substitution of the wrong player), Annie was at least trying to play football, instead of being more concerned with trying to foul or holding off players.........Wallace. Wallace quiet and did nothing for me, And was Glynn on the pitch in the second half?

Alexis and wallace should have walked, passing was [****!!****], thought our back line looked okish (thought lovegrove covered a lot of ground), but we had no midfield in the second. as has been pointed out here by Chris, all glynn seemed to do in the second half was moan at ref.Thought Alexis was poor, at least mason was trying. The crowd did get behind annie and G, because at least they were trying. As for leaving G as a wing back for the whole 90- minutes................. remember that game last season where Hodgy played as a defender, and as we were losing with 5 minutes to go Denton pushed Daly up and left Hodges in defence................ his subs (or lack off) and tactics do not shock me anymore, just disapoint. Westie showed more passion on the touchline.............

Nice early season rant, sorry, hopefully dell and duncan coming back will change things. Will be at harrow and Margate, and yesterday spent a total of £110 (shirts, sponsorship, trust etc) so think I can moan if I want!

And Charlton lost...........maybe Dowie will buy another winger!

For starters I think Eddie has got to stop playing five at the back. Yesterday was further proof that although we might not concede many we sure aint going to score many and when we concede a goal, nine times out of ten we are going to lose.

Glynn has the ability with the ball at his feet but lacks any form of pace.

Alexis was back to his old strolling self where he becomes totally ineffective (must question his fitness with his knee as he was limping a bit in the second half).

Mason is frustrating because he beats players with ease and then decides to go square across the pitch or backwards.

I think Eddie has to play a flat back four and make a hard decision not to play either Jarvis or Leach.

Alexis was injured going into the game and was wearing heavy strapping before a ball was kicked - probably a bit harsh having a go at him. More of a question why he was left on for the full 90 minutes when we could have gone 3-4-3 at any point. Ideally after say 70 mins when we were looking short on ideas to get level. That was the biggest concern. We did not look like equalising let alone getting two.

I agree that we didnt play that well on Saturday but I think Gary has a point as well. The comments on here before the start of the season were quite negative and not very encouraging for the players, in fact a lot of people had us relagated before we even started playing. I know it goes both ways but I do think we should get behind the team a lot more.

Here's my penny worth.

I thought that we were a bit nearer a jelling as a team.

Still lots of defensive errors, posibly due to the "tram lines" - ie. Stepping on the ball, because it changed direction/speed.

Some players still not match fit, some were tiring during the second half

Good points -

Adi looks like we might be a handful when our midfield get used to the way he plays.

Woody was getting forward a lot.

G was in and out of the game, but gave them a run around during his "in" times.

Our midfield stayed as a supporting midfield, during the end of last season, they were not supporting the strikers leaving big gaps for the oppo to strike straight back at us.

There is lots of room for improvement, and I believe that it will come, and we will improve. Hopefully very soon, as we have a few big games coming up quickly.

Lets hope we get our season started at Harrow.

See you all there.

This gets more insane by the minute.

So we start the game with a half fit Alexis and our best player playing in defence. Alexis is clearly not doing himself justice and struggling for most of the match. We are losing and getting nowhere fast, we make one substitution taking off our best forward and keep a limping Alexis on.

The formation stays the same and we go out with a wimper.

Bloody insane.

wasnt there on saturday but as soon as i got the text from gary with the score on i could tell that it couldnt have been a good game.

bring on harrow, we have to win this one already as the next 4 after it will be extremely tough games to get anything from.
