So hands up now who is still impressed with LD's summer signings !

Better team than last year ? Not on the showing so far !

Gooding - Ricketts: RICKETTS

Skinner/Glozier - Opinel: On reputation at least, OPINEL.

McKimm/Saunders/Bowry/Jackson/Slatter - Keeling/DeBolla/Long/Quinn/Slatter - Probably not a lot in it, but I think the current midfield is younger and more naturally talented.

MacDonald/Sodje (when he turned up)/Moore/Rawle/Manny - MacDonald/Ekoku/Moore/DeBolla (when he plays up front) - Again, not a massive improvement, but an improvement all the same I would say, and we've yet to see DeBolla up front.

No, I'm not necessarily expecting us to finish much higher, but is this squad better than last year's? In my opinion, yes.

We beat the league's whipping boys last Tuesday

We beat the whipping boys 4-1, and I imagine last season's team would have huffed and puffed to a single-goal victory against them - if that. Does anything cheer you up, RR? Like, ever?

It's far too early for any of you, me, or anyone else to say definitively either way whether or not this year's squad is better than last year's.

By the way, Riverview Red's relentlessly negative postings have finally allowed him to graduate to the status of troll. Therefore, everyone, don't feed him.

Squad depth is initially a concern, but the fact that York and Tamworth both had smaller squads than us puts it into perspective; it could well be a problem later on in the season, but for now, we are on a level pegging with our opponents (or the majority of them.)

I think the playing squad is marginally better than last season, abeit I've only seen two games at home. There were weaknesses in both sides, but this side seems to have alot more potential, both to improve as players and to gel into a better team, and more individual class to turn a game, especially with alot more attacking flair.

Slating the team and making a negative judgement after three games is only going to break the confidence that's good to have about the place. Alot of people's judgements are made as much on this forum as they are on matchdays; trying to kill all hope and happiness, three games in, will spread to the terraces, and there'll be doom and gloom about the place when there should be optimism, especially this early in!

2 games lost by a solitary goal and a thrashing of Tamworth.

From the reports I had in my absence, more football on the deck than in the whole of the last 3 months of last season.

And you're complaining? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, but it's not like the old days for RR. When Chris Weller was the best manager the club could attract and the height of ambition was struggling in the Doc Martens Premier with Clint Gooding leading the line. Great days...

I'm a Floater (excuse the pun), and even though I've only seen two home games I was impressed, we tried to play, battled hard, and might have nicked a goal back against a well organised York outfit.

I'll continue to spend my hard earned money on the home games expecting the same endeavour from the Fleet.

If we stay up and consolidate another season in Conference I would count that as an achievement.

On the other hand you've seen more then me so many people might think I'm talking bo**ox. But I'll keep the faith.

Did you read the stats in the NLP Red.I thought we had a few shots on target, but according to the stats, we had none! Or am I reading it wrong.

I can only think of one - DeBolla's deflected shot straight at the 'keeper at the start of the second half.

DeBolla's two volleys later on were possibly on target, but were charged down so quickly it was difficult to tell.
