Good luck- you make your own luck by playing well-for tomorrow and indeed the complete season.

Hope we can all enjoy it for a change ,and the players (and supporters) stay fit.

As you say, 4 games in 9 days-unbelievable really.

Just hope our core squad of experienced guys can stay uninjured to see us through that little lot

So important to get a good start, as i could never see why people say things don't really shape up until Xmas.

In my book,a win in August has 3 points attached exactly the same as 3 points in April.

Anyway, i'm waffling off topic.

Best wishes to MFC again

[color:"blue"]I too am very excited with the squad Robin has assembled and the prospects for the coming season.

Good to see that there's competition for starting places in the team, evident with the likelyhood of Scott C-S wresting the goalkeeping jersey from Charlie and the uncertainty of which of the central defenders will line up against Worthing tomorrow.

I'm also excited to see that the first team squad includes players who probably expected to make the newly re-formed reserves (an area vastly under-utilised by CK).

Best Wishes Lads, give us some performances to be proud of.

Only 6 weeks ago at Fleet all was doom and gloom , no sponsor, no team no hope.

After only 2 games our team is new, so is our style of play, actually passing it and scoring goals.(MacDonald and Debolla are the joint league keading scorers so far.)

What this shows is that there is always hope.

You have a new team with a blend of youth and some great experience (especially our boys!!)

You should do well.

Good luck for this season.

Always keep an eye on how you are doing, CG, and wish you well for your season, which has started pretty well for you, I thought.

Glad to see you are looking after the Canadian.

Hope we can reciprocate, we do appreciate your 'old boys'.

All the best to you (unless we cross swords in any comps, of course).

CK HAD youth at his disposal yet preferred to let them sit on the bench.A certain Osman Sesay comes to mind as just one fitting example. I forget the times I mentioned the "Rooney" example. If they are good enough play them! Its rubbish to be wrapping them up in cotton wool.

Since Trotty took over Osman has probably spent more time already on the pitch than he ever did under CK. Sesay was at CKs disposal & though Sesay was thought highly off, enough to warrant trials at big clubs Sesay was still not deemed to be good enough to play in our team.To hold a player back because of his age or inexperience is wrong i.m.o. Trotty hasnt & wont hold them back if they are young & good enough whereas CK did. Oh he had youth at his disposal alright!

I accept he may not have had a reserve side to fall back on but as things have been mentioned lately in the local,at the end of his time with us the team CK would put out was easy to predict.Lets not forget those other 30 + players he had go through the books that he ignored, some young, some experienced, those that he felt were good enough to be taken on.Yes,some of them were werent up to much, but some of them never even got onto the pitch at all.So in a way, that last season he had with us he DID have a sort of reserve side but failed to make full use them.

No flexibility, even with youngsters but I see the youngsters being given a go now. O.K. so far its been friendlies & whilst we can more or less predict the "core" of our side we are yet to see Trotty use them in proper games as much, but under Trotty I CAN see the "if good enough use them" no matter what the age!

I wont knock CKs past record but in his last season he WAS ignoring talent & youth for predictable, safe line ups week in week out. There were flaws in his management that had never previously been seen.

HOWEVER the title of this thread is a different story & whilst we have digressed lets get back to the BEST WISHES for THIS SEASONS PLAYERS & for TROTTY & for the CLUB & its SUPPORTERS.

Today is the start of another season so GOOD LUCK today to everyone connected with the club.Hopeful of a good show & favourable result.

I'm not sure that RT sees Sesay as a first choice.

Frankly, i don't think he is either.

Its a man's league and too many younger players in the team is recipe for disaster.

You can afford to blood one in any match , but no more than that. Its very physical at this level, and there is a bit of a difference between the likes of Rooney and Sesay/Robinson etc.

Remember just 7 days ago, how their was mild criticism that with a few younger players out, we did not exactly'cut the mustard ' at Dover when the opposition and weather got a bit tough.

You don't play young and local players just for the sake of it-we need to try and win things.

The younger players now in the squad will be a positive asset for MFC, but in 12 months time, once they have trained more, with the likes of RT,Skinner and McKimm and learnt the trade at 'street level'; so i'm pleased they are signed as squad players, but in all frankness, i doubt that they will be able contribute that much this season.(would be very happy to be wrong).

In truthfulness, if tey were that good ,they would have played regularly for Ramsgate and deals first teams last season.

Sesay may give us a bit more, as he has a season under his belt now, but training with similar younger players at academies during the summer ,will not necessarily have helped prepare him for the tougher Ryman climate.

iIt looks like we are heading to a squad of 16 core experienced players and 5-6 younger developers, which is just about right as far as i can see, but don't expect too much from the younger guys this season.

I originally thought Sesay was something for the future but he has been messed around so much that I am finding disappointment in him.Not his fault. With the right tuition & with more proper regular football I hope he gets somewhere & settles. Hes been mucked about for far too long.In his case it has done him more harm than good, being held back i.m.o.

Agree not too many youngsters at one time. Now back to the thread. You keep pulling me into your conversations MM. You know I cant resist.

Good Luck Margate today! Getting ready to go to Worthing now.Give you all a rest from me.Even I'm getting fed up with me now l.o.l. Bye Bye

Heres hoping for a good win! ANY win!

Today can't come soon enough, I'm looking forward to another season of highs and lows on the roller-coaster that is Margate.

Let's hope that we have all the highs and that the only lows are Ramsgate wins (none against us obviously).

Thanks to everybody for their work during the pre-season - Trotty and the players, the club, and not forgetting the poster squad.
