Your Ground

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, due to high winds down the Lea valley and across playing fields, unattached flags are prohibited under Health and Safety Regulations, as they may be subject to kite-like aerodynamics and raise the holder or holders off the ground to a dangerous height. Further, flags draped over or fastened to the perimeter fence will be deemed to be advertising boards, require a planning application and of course the appropriate fee.

Also unfortunately, flags on flag poles (i.e. not unattached) are also not allowed as the flag pole is considered a hazard under H&S Regs due its pole-like characteristics.

In addition to the above, and flag, banner, emblem, sign or device bearing the colour red is probited under H&S Regs due to the proximity of the nearby power station chimney, which is marked at the top by two red lights. Any said flag, banner, emblem, sign or device bearing the colour red could cause confusion to low flying aircraft on their way into or out of Stansted, leading to a possible collisin with said chimney. Further, drivers of passing trains on the Lea Valley line could see the flag, banner (etc) in their peripheral vision and mistake it for a red light.

Flags are therefore limited to A4 size, must not be draped over the fence, and must not be raised above shoulder height so as not to interrupt the view of other spectators.

You should also be aware that local planning regulations prohibit signing or chanting due to the proximity of the neighbouring dwellings, many of whose occupants enjoy a Saturday afternoon nap. Obviously they are accustomed to Enfield Town songs which do not wake them up. Naturally a ripple of polite applause is quite acceptable.

Obscenity bye-laws are very strict in the borough, and foul language is prohibited. This includes any word or phrase that could be construed as carnal, such as containing the phrase "Horn". We are also very socially aware and it is prohibited to make any disparaging reference to those less fortunate, such as the poor, the homeless, orphans and so on. Obviously words such as ragamuffin, urchin etc are prohibited.

It is prohibited to sell double glazing in the borough because, well, it just is.

Enjoy the game. That is permissible (provided you don't get too excited).
