As I mentioned on another thread, there is no acknowledgment or receipt for membership renewals.

How do we know if our renewal has been received and registered? It could be lost in the post, or theoretically and unscrupulous candidate could dispose of renewals from members he/she thought were likely to vote against him/her. Unlikely I know, but it's the principle of the thing.

up to this point we have never been asked to confirmed receipt of payment;

I think mainly due to the cost of postage, paper, envelopes for 300 people, not to mention time; maybe we need to add it to next years form as an option?

you can always pm myself or email etfc@hotmail.co.uk, to find out if your renwal has arrived.

(I assume it wasn't on invisible paper?)

thanks

Yes, I appreciate those concerns and had assumed that was the case. I suppose those with internet access could tick a box and an acknowledgment could be emailed? Doesn't help those without internet though. Maybe the renewal form could include a phrase like "if an acknowldegment is required please enclose an s.a.e" - this would avoid the expense but still involve time: however the number of pedants, worriers and paranoids like me is presumably relatively small and is probably less irritating than answering numerous invidual enquiries.

The way I used to do it when I was Membership Sec of a local society - not that much smaller than ETFC, with around 220 members - was to send no receipt but to send a reminder to those who had not renewed. Thus anyone not getting a reminder knew that they either hadn't sent it or I hadn't recieved it. (The biggest problem was people changing address and assuming I was telepathic!).

It was a bit easier as we had a quarterly newletter which I edited, and the first and second reminders went out with the January and March editions. If I heard nothing from a member by the April AGM I crossed them off. Occassionally someone would complain months (years in one case) that they had not recived their bulletin (newsletter) - the reason being they hadn't paid their subs for ages! I'm so ruthless......

I am sure your offer to produce a newsletter will be accepted!
