Edgware managers say 6th place maybe3rd place this season

Recommended Posts

Steve Newing and Del Deanus are according to todays Harrow Observer are hoping to finnish top six in the spartan league. Steve said maybe 3rd place, but that would be really good. He said other clubs have more money to spend and that this league is going to be a very tough competitive divison.

He said the team have great spirit and that most of last season's squad has been kept together, with a few new additions.

I wonder if Steve and Del are playing it clever and not saying we are going for all out promotion as that would make teams want to come to us and beat us more.

I would expect Edgware to have bigger aspiratioons then that. I know when I spoke to Del he said he wanted to do well in the Vase especially!

Although surely promotion is the main aim over the next season or 2.

Rak - Well Gavin has got a tenner at 6/1 with a bookie mate of mine that Edgware will win the SSML Premier so he must have some confidence, perhaps the odds should have been bigger then.

I think your bosses are spot on there gav...no point in shouting ya mouths off saying your going to win it...predict a top 6 finish and see where things are come the new year...i think this league is going to be very competitive and unpridctable this season !

I agree, when I posted a while ago that we were going to win the league, it was stupid, having not even seen any of the other sides playing. I think steve & Del are playing it safe and see how the teams shape up against us. A good start is very important, and three points on Saturday, should be a must, but in football you never know.

That said, I would be dissapointed if we only finnished in 6th place.

Gavin - Looking back on this post it would seem that they were indeed playing it clever and knew all along that the championship was in their back pocket albeit perhaps not a clean sweep. I talked Kentish Town up from day one and it was noticeable that everyone we played treated it like a World Cup, Champions League and FA Cup Final all rolled into one, perhaps next season I'll be a bit more low key.

At the start of the season I described us as the Man Utd of Division 1 and on hindsight perhaps I shouldn't have done so, that doesn't mean that we weren't.
