tamworth game

Recommended Posts

haha are you saying you don't like the Kenny banter?

Seriously, the atmosphere tonight was excellent, apart from the incident that apparently happened at the end with a few Gravesend 'fans', being violent to Tamworth supporters. Debolla looks an absolute diamond of a signing so far, but time will tell, and Luke Moore ran his heart out tonight too, and deserved a goal.

Looked like there were lots of "new" fans there tonight. Quite a few in their teens. Maybe it was one of them.

As for the attendance. I was initially disappointed, but if I'm not mistaken, there were about 900-odd Fleet fans at the opening game against Exeter last season. As there only appeared to be around 30-50 Tamworth fans (and that could be pushing it a bit..) and you have to take into account that we were getting around 700 for midweek fixtures last season, the attendance didn't seem too bad.

The little b*stards that did it make me resent coming from Gravesend; Tamworth fans have done a roughly 300-400 mile round trip to support their team, and some delinquents who probably couldn't tell you who Jimmy Jackson was, such is their lack of interest in the game, decide to split one of their lips.

I'm all for new fans, but not those type of people; I'm 15 and i don't go round at Fleet games intimidating opposition fans.

But on the bright side, let's have the same atmosphere and performance on Saturday!

Pride of Kent!

He looks a very competent, busy yet creative player and has managed to notch a few goals at whatever level he's played - but as you say, time will tell and judging by his tenacity and the tackles tonight, I fancy he might pick up a few cards in his time with us too

True, I agree. A few more games like that and he's bound to silence the few in the crowd who accused him of being many things last season. However, equally pleasing was to see Charlie firing on all cylinders; displaying a great first touch throughout, boundless energy and seemingly to have a decent understanding with Luke too - long may it continue.

The squad may appear a little threadbare but if we can keep (relatively) free of suspensions and injuries then we could do reasonably well this year. I thought that Quinn and Keeling looked great acquisitions too. Very professional display tonight - more of the same come Saturday.

Incidentally, as if we aren't quick enough on here with our posts, bloody quick details updated by the Yanks too!

lol I don't know how you meant that but I wasn't implying it was a certain group, there are alot of groups of teenagers there and I don't know which lot started on the Tamworth fans, sorry if I caused offence though mate!

woo, top game tonight. Good noise, good football and we are on the playoff chase again

Debolla looked ace again tonight and 2 goals from freekicks. Somewhat of a specialist it seems, which is always good to have. Charlie Mac back on scoring form... and pretty much what everyone else has said about the team already!

A good result against york, lets get the season really going

Great performance and great result.

I thought that the performance of Rob Quinn gave the side good balance and provided a platform for the forward players. The passing was crisp and accurate and there were far fewer long hoofs upfield.

All round a performance that bodes well for the season.

Good game last night and while you can only beat the team in front of you it was only Tamworth. I still have mixed feelings about the season ahead. We have some decent players that can compete at this level but it's the squad size that concernes me. Lets not get above our station, last night was a very good game but we have possibly played the worse team in this league so there will be sterner tests this season.

On the face of it though I'm a very happy bunny at the moment and I'm very excited about the result and some of the football we might be able to play this season. This morning it is this page that makes for exciting reading for me. So much so I've decided to reward the club and all of us with a dancing pink elephant.

What pleased me most was our passing style of play. Huge improvement on last year's route 1 hoofing.

Great value too, 3 great goals + 2 typical Charlie poaches.

And even young Luke manage

to clatter fat Matt!!

Of course, it is still early days, but this really does appear better than last year's fare.

The question is, can we sustain this type of football?
