top 5 new names for SACFC

due to the upcoming move outside the city boundaries thanks to clarence park being turned into a block of flats(..cough ahem..sorry did i say that???!) and what with franchise footy being frowned upon.. its about time a new name was found for the albans.

 

1.Chiswell Green Utd ..(makes choice of kit easy tho im not sure thornsy will be happy as it will clash with his fluffy coat)

 

2.Park St Rangers. this will remind you of your heros from park lane essex

 

3.Watling Street Romans. thornsey could build a catapault to hurl those cans of mead for miles.

 

4.Wheathamstead town.. cos its a great name and the ground could be called 'The Folly' just up the road

 

5.Stevenage.. we all know its merger time

There is already a football team called EFM. Don't know why though, apparently there are only 2 players that are actually in EFM.

 

How about Old Albanians Football Club. Then, in a couple of years, give up football and merge with the rugby club??

I suppose he might get on for EFM before you, EFMTFTV, but not at many other clubs.

I really would like to see that team re-named now. It's EFM in name only. With the exception of myself, Kingy and Dave Kendell, no-one else who plays on a regular basis has ever been to a game at City, let alone associate themselves with the Firm. <img src="/forums/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

And Kendalls on thin ice as well after missing last weeks EFM do because Tom George felt ill so wasn't going. I called him at 9pm and he was at home, 9pm on a Friday night - actually I've just expelled him from EFM thats indefendable 9pm on a Friday at home and he's single!

What will really annoy me, is come the end of the season when (more likely "if" now <img src="/forums/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" /> ) we play the annual match at Clarence Park - EFM vs Saints Supporters - the EFM team will be made up of ringers, and the real EFM won't get a look in. That game really should be just for the EFM on the terraces, and only for the EFM on the terraces. It means nothing to the others. <img src="/forums/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, the thing is people who play for EFM the team will read that page 3 article and go "oh look they the same name as the team I play for"

Good. Hopefully they'll disassociate themselves from it and ask for their team to be renamed. The Beehive is as good a name as any.

Whose fault is it that non-EFM members play for EFM? Who is to blame?

Whose fault is it? It's no-one's fault as such, but they've brought in so many new players to try and improve results (which hasn't happened) that original players like myself have been brushed to one side and don't get a look in. We must have a squad of about 25 players, and only a handful are EFM. I guess it doesn't help that alot of the youngsters are at Uni.

 

Thing is, there are still a good 10-12 players that turn up week-in week-out, and when you have that many regulars, you don't need the other 15 or so, and you can concentrate on having a settled team like the Harpenden Arms do. We seem to pick up more waifs and strays every week though.

 

It's a shame because people like Pete have stopped coming cos they've lost interest, and I'm starting to feel that way too.

 

Just rechange the name, and break all ties between the team and the Firm and I'll be happy.

 

(That was all a bit garbled by the way, and probably didn't make much sense, and I probably failed to get across what I was trying to say, but I can't be arsed really to go through it all again as I did painstakingly with Kingy a couple of months ago.)

Why break all ties with the team and the Firm though? The team was started up as a Firm football team. There should be a Firm football team. EFM should take back what is rightfully theres. Have words with Sherwood, Kingy etc.

 

Would getting more of the EFM players down to City help? Tell 'em to get down t'park on a Saturday afternoon.

They're nice guys, the new EFM players, but they're not of the EFM ethic, if you know what I mean.

 

I've tried speaking to Kingy, GHA, and I get nowhere. I agree we should take the team back, but I don't think there's enough Firm members interested now to achieve that goal.
