Seeing Red

Recommended Posts

On the way up from Devon today, I tuned into Southern Counties Radio. They stated that Aldershot is looking to get their red carded player reinstated as he wasn,t to blame for getting himself sent off. Couldn't make the game as I was in Dartmouth. What Happened?.

I hope we win tomorrow as Iv,e conned two of my mates into being there.

No, he was completely innocent of erupting from the floor and pressing his point in MacDonald's face, then pouting and wailing at the referee and generally creating a scene before walking off.

If they get that rescinded, I'll eat mine and everyone else's hat.

Aaargh! Kiss of death lol. Well the last few times I bought mates to a game we were awful and so was the game. Like last season where I took a stevenage fan (hoping to show REAL conf footy) and we lost at tamworth

Heh heh, it's true. We should do a straw poll to see if anybody who has ever brought mates has had a result other than the team being a heap of crap and losing!

In fairness, one could have brought a mate to any one of about 18 home games last year and seen crap and dross.

But the hoodoo strikes every year, not only crap years! I brought some mates to two games in our promotion season - the defeat to Canvey and the defeat to Boreham Wood! You'd've put your house on getting at least one positive result that season!

Not to mention the two footed tackle on Hawkins that caused Hawkins to react in the first place.

The ref may have missed that but the video will show it clearly.

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this but when they were both on the ground the Aldersot player actually kicked hawkins in the thigh a couple of times, which warrants a red card on its own.

About 48 hours late bit Newman appealed and won. Full story here.

I liked the bit where he said

"I knew I was innocent though. I just made a tackle, got up and that was it I was sent off for violent conduct. A lot of things happen in the heat of the moment and it isn't always easy for officials".

Yeah thats right, his shin kicked your foot didn't it?

Jesus, that's unbelievable. Regardless of his original challenge, he still raised his arms to MacDonald. Perhaps the Shots edited that bit out. When I think of some of the decisions we've appealed that the FA have just ignored... it leaves me speechless.
