Lovegrove in for Daly?

Must say from what i've seen from Ian Lovegrove so far this pre-season i've been very impressed after thinking he had 'no chance' of getting in the side last season.

Wonder if Eddie will be thinking of possibly dropping Daly now (especially as he has not played the last three games) and putting Lovers in alongside Leach and Jarvis in the back three?

a hard choice to make, lovegrove is quite a bit younger (correct me if im wrong) than the other central defenders we have, so he could be the bit of pace we were looking for, but losing daly's experience as skipper could dent the team.

If Steve Daly is fit to play there is absolutely no chance of Lovegrove playing instead of him.

His legs may be slower but there is no substitute for experience, leadership and his heading ability.

Yes, Lovegrove has played quite well in the friendlies he's been involved in but I think if everyone is fit Eddie will start with a back five of Dell, Daly, Jarvis, Leach and Woodruff.

Personally, I wouldn't play five at the back because it would leave us a player short in midfield, open to the counter attack and if the idea is for Dell and Woody to bomb forward and sling crosses over there is absolutely no one in the middle who is tall enough and strong enough to get on the end of the crosses.

Doesnt matter how many people you have in defence, you can still conceed goals.

I think at the moment Reading Rebel has the formation spot on although I would swap Harris for Odhiambo. Unfortunately I think McCleary will be wasted playing behind the front too, he is good at running at defenders and coming in from the wings is the best way to do that.

Next saturday will be interesting to see what team starts.

No chance of playing 4 at the back IMO - I don't think Woody is an out and out left-back (although he did well on the odd occasion), and does much better when allowed to bomb forwards. Dell too looks a more attacking right wing-back.

I think Jarvis, Daly and Leach will all be starting, with Lovegrove as backup and the option to revert to 4 at the back in case of injuries.

4-4-2 is solid i think.woody was a full back at yeading and on the wycombe, maidenhead websites it says dell is a right-back.maybe there being told to push on more than they want to at times.remember, when playin 3 at the back, the wing back has to push on as much as he can.we shall see come sat.
