Despite my ramblings at end of last season and general "cant be arsed anymore" attitude , I am ready to go again.

Look out the window and its dull and miserable . Has normal service been resumed?

Lossing the game in the last minute! I would say so!

I thought we showed a lot more passionthen a long time , some good attacking play , and charlie , danny both having cracking games , only surpassed by an inventive and diverse range of play from newboy keeling.

Mor positive now then in a long time.

They attacked liek a home team should and a lot of teams will struggle at Aldershot this year.

Was a little disapointe din our crowd though 130ish . I would have thought a few more for first game , then again , we did have different end to previous visits that may have made it look more dispersed.

Thought we didn't deserve to lose today. Cronn had an excellent game and made some really good saves. Debolla's goal was just class and overall a good performance, just a shame about the result....does leave you feeling a bit gutted at the end!

Hopefully, if we put in the same sort of performance against Tamworth, we can get a more positive result out of it.

Thought we played really well today, even though the result went against us the style of football we played showed how far we have progressed. I think it is far to early to make any judgement on how the season will pan out, but, the display today gives me a lot of hope.

Keelin, de bolla and cronin really shone today, just a pity some of the moaners didn't bother to make the effort to get down to aldershot, 3 points tuesday!!!!

Just thought we gave the ball away too easily & sat rather too deep - we barely got out of our half after half time, although only 2 outstanding challenges from their number 2 (deservedly man of the match) prevented us having clear chances of going back ahead at 2-2.

Charlie Mac seemed to be lacking a little confidence & sharpness today - a 1 on 1 where he didnt quite eem to make up his mind, and another where he tried to square the ball when shoorting was perhaps the better option.

Ekoku looked a little lacking for much of the game - very rarely won aheader, although 1 he did win lead to the penalty - but did manage a couple of good strong runs in the latter stages.

Cronin was superb 1st half and didnt bhave much to do 2nd half other than pivk the ball out of the net 3 times.

Hawkins looked to struggle and stupidly got himselfsent off (although their guys reaction wasabysmal - going down as if shot, then leaping straight up and trotting off as soo as Hawkins got the red - almost deserved his red just for that).

Ross was his usual solid self for the majoity of the game.

Most of the others had decent games without being outstanding - De Bolla's goal though was exceptiona & you could almost see it was only going toend up in the net even before h struck it.

Oh well, our point tally can only improve fom here & TUesday's ame gives us every chance of getting underway - lets seeif we can match WEyouth's 10 second goal agaist them!

THE PERFORMANCE WAS AN IMPROVEMENT ON LAST SEASON'S BY A CONSIDERABLE MARGIN AND EVERYONE PLAYED WELL THOUGH ME & MY FATHER WERE DISSAPOINTED WITH DANNY EKOKU BUT WE'RE BOTH CERTAIN OF BETTER THINGS TO COME FROM HIM ONCE HE GETS HIS 1ST GOAL AGAINST TAMWORTH.I ALSO THINK LACK OF EXPERIANCED SQUAD PLAYERS STOOD OUT TODAY AS WE COULDN'T BRING ON A 3RD SUB WITH EXPERIANCE TO HELP OUR DEFENCE FOR THE LAST 10 MINS OR SO, WE REALLY NEED A SPONSOR FOR AT LEAST 2 MORE PLAYERS,BUT AFTER THAT LITTLE MOAN THE PERFORMANCE WAS O.K WIN ON TUESDAY & SATURDAY WILL MAKE IT A GOOD START

Agree with you , Ekoku didn't appear to have what it takes at this level, o.k he managed a few runs toward the end of the game, but overall wasn't great, lets hope it was just down too gelling with his team mates and we see a better performance tuesday.

The crucial turning point of the game, which no one has yet mentioned, was the loss of Sacha Opinel through injury(rumoured to be a broken arm)the defence had to be re-organised (30 mins.)and from then on we strugled to contain them down their right flank, this is what cost us the game.Let's hope it's not as serious as first thought.I hope L.D. brings in Luke Moore to partner Charlie up front,to give a bit of guile to the attack,Ekoku did not perform until late in the game, when it was to late.

Surely giving Ekoku only one competitive game to show what he can do is totally insufficient?

The worst thing about yesterday's defeat was the fact that nothing was really happening at all in the last fifteen minutes, and the game appeared to be petering out into a draw, before a winning goal out of nowhere.

Aldershot were no mugs and should have been 3-0 up before we had even scored. I was very impressed with yesterday’s game, De Bolla and Keeling in particular caught my eye. The defence looked a bit shaky and Hawkins kept getting done for pace, we're still waiting to see what warranted Daish's comment "too good an opportunity too miss" when we first got him last season, and James Smith looked like he was having trouble clearing the ball, didn't seem to be able to get under it.

However I don't think we will have the same problem as last season, didn't see too many long balls yesterday, nice passing movement and it was good to see De Bolla having a crack from 30 yards.

Cronin looks to be a class goalkeeper and Craig will have to fight for his place when he returns to fitness.

Provided we can get a few loan signings, which shouldn't be too hard (hopefully from Charlton’s ressies/youth team), then I think we'll be okay. We have the basis for a good team, it is just the trimmings we need to add.

Some things never change though the last three seasons we have had someone sent off in our first game (and our second game) and also in the last three seasons we have lost away to Aldershot and the conceding in the final minute. Plus with the exception of last season over the three previous seasons we have conceded goals in the final minute of the opening game. So look on the bright side, at least were consistent.

The performance on Saturday was very encouraging and this new team is vastly better than last years. Yes, it was disappointing to lose in the last minute, but not many teams will take anything from Aldershot on their patch. It is so important we turn up in numbers for the Tamworth game and really get behind the Liam and the Team. Drag any one you can along tomorrow night and make some noise. It is unfortunate we are forced to make some changes but trust Liam, he is doing all he can.
